A top five pick in this upcoming draft could be a gamechanger.

It's a bold choice to sign a max FA and then promptly tank the year away for a top five pick.

Might as well, these fragile guys are going to need a ton of help to get this thing over the top.

Silver will personally make sure it falls to 7

We'll have to finish bottom two to guarantee that we don't fall out of our top six protected range.

You just know in Silver's utopia we finish third last and he can drop us to seven to hand the pick over to OKC.

Flagg / Dylan Harper / Ace Bailey, welcome home.

Exact same wavelength, either that or we'll be investigated and have the pick stripped.

The league personally sent 100 non-related medical practitioners to do reflex testing on Embiid's knees

Radio silence on this situation though

What a cute team, thinking they could contend without actually preparing for the season.

Time to tank. Get some rest, Joel. Maybe find another reporter to shove.

Surgery on both ankles probably covers it.

I just find it humorous how Embiid (and Kawhi) are treated like players that we haven't seen go through the horrors of playing through pain at the highest levels, including long compilations out there of them brutalizing themselves before our eyes on live TV.

One of Embiid's most celebrated highlights from last season was him catching that self-lob in the playoffs before going down in agonizingly. It's not a highlight for me, I can't watch that clip and feel any sort of excitement from it - and I know the brace sliced his skin or whatever, but it's traumatic for me as someone's that followed his career from Kansas until now to see him going down in pain on another major injury that's potentially ended his career, and most definitely impacted his long term health.

It was depressing watching him last season post meniscus, physically unable to jump. Unable to blink!

And it's worth noting I was all in before we extended him, before he announced he doesn't expect to ever play back-to-backs (detrimental to his value.... utterly idiotic thing to volunteer), and before the team dropped another eleventh hour surprise report on his health days before the opener.

Tobias turning into George, Drummond, Martin is still a very good haul that I would do every time. The Pistons will regret overpaying him like we did before this season ends.

the tune before the season was we turned Harden into George. I'm confused now we got in return from Harden.

Slowly our assets are dwindling away.
It was Tobias for PG (why do fans refer to him as George since there are 4 George in the league now), who played with Harden for a full season last year because Morey didn’t want to pay him the super max which would put us over the 2nd apron which didn't exist when that promise was made to Harden?

https://youtube.com/shorts/4ZOZuYJw2Cs?si=YjWpx4IdVLKp_Buc

And we are still under the 2nd apron now, thanks to the 3rd or 4th fiddle finally off the books. PG would be 2nd fiddle for most teams in the league, including the Clippers now. You shouldn't need to read too much between the lines to figure that out since no one views Tobias as a super star at any point in his career, so they use Harden as a talking point to fool you.

We also got James Harden for a season and a half...

it reminds me of kicking the can down the road like we did with Mutombo, who turned into Van Horn, who turned into Glen Robinson, who turned in Jamal Mashburn who then just expired. We gave up a bunch of picks along the way too. Hinkie, it seemed could turn a paperclip into a house http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/5167388.stm

We processing again? I've never felt more alive.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Worst case scenario for this team is to miss the playoffs and also miss the top 5. They need to either make the playoffs or be bad enough to keep their pick. No in between. Anything other than that and everyone in the organization should be fired. The entire coaching staff and front office and even training staff.

When there are no expectations to win and nobody on your payroll, sure. Kicking the can down the road can also be called attempting to compete. When Embiid retires a Sixers and he's no longer on the roster, we'll have lost that asset with nothing to show for it. Except 10+ years of Joel Embiid.

I feel like my enjoyment as a fan has diminished a lot since the process/Hinkie started in 2013-14. The only years I enjoyed more than those early Hinkie/Process years were 2017-18 (amazing Ben and Joel year, hope existed) and 2018-19 (Jimmy year). After that, I feel like there's been a steady decline in upside and excitement.

and some teams would trade Joel Embiid so that they get a Rudy Gobert+ return because they've assessed they can't win with him and trade them before their value diminishes.

What hurts most is this core is under contract for four more years, which is why I keep comparing this to path we took with AI. I'm hoping they retain some of their trade values because we need not prolong the rebuilding.

That's fine if you want to take the loser approach. Rudy Gobert ain't no Joel Embiid.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
