It really depends on the press meaning of the word "tear". A side-strain is technicaly a tear of the Oblique. But if this means actual ripping, then that's surgery and 4 months recovery. That the team is saying "4-6 weeks for re-evaluation" strongly implies this is a strain and not a "tear" in the lay-person's meaning of that word. As fans,, we can have no idea what this means time wise. The all-star game is 16 February 2025 this season. I wouldn't be shocked if he returns the first game after that. I WOULD be shocked if he returns in Jan.

Oh fair, I keep reading this thing as 4-6 weeks until potential return. Not out for the potential season or half of it. Yikes.

Chat GPT on the injury recovery time:

The recovery time for an oblique strain depends on the severity of the injury, ranging from mild (Grade I) to severe (Grade III). Here’s a general outline of recovery times:

1. Grade I (Mild): With rest, ice, compression, and physical therapy, a mild oblique strain may heal in about 1-2 weeks.

2. Grade II (Moderate): This level typically involves partial tearing and requires more time, usually 3-6 weeks of recovery.

3. Grade III (Severe): A severe strain with significant tearing may need 6-12 weeks or more, especially if surgery is required.

Early treatment with rest, avoiding aggravating activities, and following a physical therapy routine can speed up recovery. However, it’s crucial to let the strain heal properly to avoid re-injury or chronic issues.

Injury report says December 8th.. that's probably when they're going to reevaluate him

Massive range of degrees of this kind of injury...seeing Paolo upright on the sideline, not wincing with every movement is very encouraging.

Our org never indicated the level of Paolo's strain right?

4-6 weeks means at least 2 months with Weltman. Maybe, against OKC on December 19th is my prediction.

That Banchero finished the 4th quarter implies this is a strain and not a "tear" (as in torn through). So: here's hoping.

Banchero durability and pain tolerance to me is unquestioned though. He played with a neck sprain on rookie season thru the month of Feb.

He also played through a sprained ankle against the Rockets his rookie year and was out 7 games after that.

I love his demeanor...he is a legitimately tough guy. No theatrics. No whining. No fake limping or bad body language. Pure Beast!

Amen. I was nervous about drafting him after seeing his suit at the draft. Seemed like look at me diva wearing that thing lol. He couldn't be further form that thou. Dude is no drama at all, legit tough dude.

I think the fact that A.) he finished the Bulls game and B.) he doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain moving on the sideline and C.) he is 21 years old.

I think we should anticipate him back closer to 4 weeks imo

but we know the Magic. They walk on eggshells if you are hurt they will take the conservative approach. I do think the all-star, all Nba-stuff is important to Paolo...I think he will be back early December. He was hurt October 30th. Exactly 4 weeks out from that is December 4th.

We play the Sixers on the 4th. He will have missed 19 games if he misses that game. That would put him at max 63 games for the season...just under 65. I guess we are going see how important the chance at all NBA team is to him. That Sixers game is the 2nd of a back to back after our in season tournament game at NY. If he is feeling better and can play both of those games...if he doesn't miss anymore it will put him at the minimum 65 games.

Will be interesting to see what happens for sure. If he misses those two games take your time until full health. I have a sneaky suspicion if he does the math he might push to play those two games. Especially if we have the ability to qualify for the NBA cup.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

Including the flu games, Franz has a 19.2 PER and a 109 offensive rating, on 29% usage. He had a 133 offensive rating just last game. He's stepping up and it's going to get even better as we finish adjusting to life without Paolo. I'm impressed.

It’s only been 10 days without Paolo!!! I’m going crazy…

Hoping we can improve on offense while Paolo is out so we ready to rock when he returns.

Looks like TDS is going to play over Jett.

Yup. The step back is going to be immensely beneficial when he comes back. Less load on him and more distributed on the trees that were given the extra space to fail and grow.

We’ll are still at the development stage as a team, and our players will be forced to step up and take the lead while Paolo is out.

This will be great for the development of the team. Right now, Paolo is head and shoulders ahead of everybody. Hopefully, when he comes back, Franz and/or Jalen will be ready to be a legit #2 for this team.

Since you posted this, F-Wagner has "gone off". But for me actually, Bitadze at C over Carter has been a real key in the two wins.
