Most likely, and doing this, we'll likely get someone hurt as they'll inevitably have to play minutes, or we'll have to veer off the plan with Jo.

Honestly they are going to Miss Tyrese, but Biid and George could be fine and the rest of the East is right there for the taking outside of Cleveland and Boston, everyone struggling. Charlotte still needs to be a win though.

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
All this team has to do is be healthy at the 1/2 way point of the season. Then win 41 games and with the one win we already have that 42 wins enough for the 6th or 7ths seed in the east. The 76ers will be fine.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

I just hope Maxey will be as good as last season once he recovered from this hamstring injury. I’d rather have that rather than him playing like Troy Hudson for the entire season.
Our guards have to step up or else it’s gonna be brutal until Biid is back. Lowry, Reggie and probably Council and McCain have to collective carry the load.

Pretty much what happened last year. Joel was great in the playoffs after returning... Had pain and paralysis, but....They just didn't get enough from Reed and Hield.
But their seeding was trash too

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
Maxey and Paul George dynamics:
One player can shoot over his defender almost anytime time but plays with the aggressiveness of a third option, while the other struggles to get his shot off consistently but has the aggressiveness of a second option.
We need a true first option player. Maxey has been effectively deferring to George, but George needs to step up and play with more aggression.
Run consistent two-man games with George and a guard or a stretch 5, similar to how Tatum operates. Now with Maxey out, George needs to play with the aggression of Tatum or Ant Edwards, taking more threes while also staying aware of open looks for our guards or Yabu. They’ll need to help shoulder the load in 3pt shooting as well.

They were attempting to run dho with Maxey off of George and it was clumsy when I think a 1-3 pick and pop going either way is maybe the best option.... Probably with George handling and Maxey spacing primarily.

Agree. Thats what Celts and Wolves are doing with Divicenzo/Ant and Pritchard/Tatum. And it’s been leading to a lot of 3s so far.

I can't believe we're going to give the 14th pick to OKC.

We can’t effectively play Oubre and Drummond together.
Just check the two-man lineup stats and the on-court/off-court NetRtg, they back this up, as does the eye test. Both are negative floor spacers with poor hands around the rim and, honestly, low basketball IQ.

What's the over/under for the amount of games Embiid, George and Maxey play together? I'll go with 30.

This feels like Suns 2023-24.
I’ll go with under 30 as well

So, with the Jazz win, the Sixers have the worst record in the NBA.
When was the last time that happened?
But, at the same time, we are just 3 games behind the 3rd seed

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
So it seems like the new trend in basketball is limiting the 3pt attempt rate. That’s what Bud in PHX is doing, and so do we. That explains why we’re closing so hard on the 3pt shooters. It’s just that we’re the worst in defending shots in the restricted area.

Embiid would have made his season debut against the Hornets if not for the Marcus Hayes altercation. For sure.
He’s not gonna missed a Hornets game.
I miss Cody Zeller and Mason Plumlee.

Hopefully they keep that up with Joel's drop coverage being added

Cody Martin is shooting 40% on 3s with 3.8 attempts per game. Maybe we got the wrong Martin.
