Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 1
We need to move Jovic to the 2nd unit and start the better and more impactful Highsmith. Then from that point you start JJJ to replace Jimmy is what I’d guess but it would be kind of interesting to start Duncan or Burks and let it fly from 3. Spo typically likes to lean on a 3 point barrage when Jimmy is out with hopefully point Bam

I would bring up Keshad Johnson and start throwing him into the fire at PF. Play him with his college team mate Pelle Larsson who have built in chemistry already. Play Dru Smith or drop him for Isiah Stevens who brings real PG play.

Man what a regression from even the preseason where EVERYONE looked comfortable in the new offense and we were also averaging 16 steals a game. Not sure what flip switched to ruin all that but it looked very promising.
You have to lean towards the talent. This is not a team with Tucker, Iggy, Crowder, Martin, Lowry, Vincent, Oladipo etc all defensive talent players. Spo has to see how far he can push the offense. Hopefully he can push it in a way that the offense helps the defense.

Look at this lovely little nugget in regards to Terry Rozier's contract. He's essentially on an expiring contract if we don't make it into the second round. The final year of his deal becomes a team option. Also makes him extremely tradeable to a tanking team.
Only $24,924,126 guaranteed in 2025/26, HoopsHype has learned. His contract becomes fully guaranteed if his team participates in the conference semifinals and he plays in at least 70 regular season games.

Our defense has always led to easy offense for us though at times, starting Highsmith should be a step in the right direction. It’s hard to score when you’re taking it out of the net after every defensive possession and the opposing team is already set up in their defense

I don’t think that’s right but maybe I’m wrong. Hes on the books next year for essentially $24.5M regardless of what happens, the incentive of him playing 70 games or making the 2nd round bump him up another $2M. At least that’s my understanding looking at Spotrac, I don’t see anything about a team option

Curious if something opens up with the Utah Jazz and Terry Rozier. I can see Utah trying to tank for Cooper Flagg and looking to get rid of some contracts like John Collins and Collin Sexton. Jazz are currently 1-7. I know lots of you like to talk about Ainge's love for Herro but his first love well before Herro was Terry Rozier while in Boston. This is a trade partner with Rozier that really does make a whole lot of sense.

Both stipulations have to be met, it's and not or to meet the stipulations. Hoopshype shows the team option. Going to look more into this but seems like there may be a back door out of the contract. Maybe I might have read it wrong and it's in regards to 2 million. Maybe seeing the team option in red got me. Why would there even be a team option listed? What's the team option to pay him 24 instead of 26?

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 1
I’ve been saying it for two years now but we have to trade Jimmy Butler right now. I don’t care what they get in return, probably shouldn’t even expect a first round pick at this point in his career, maybe just swaps. Get role players and people with expiring salaries.
I have zero proof of course, but I think he’s probably a negative influence in the locker room right now after not getting extension and Bam getting his extension. This is the guy who holds grudges, “Tobias Harris over me!” And now he probably thinks the same thing with Bam, which makes the situation even worse with Bam coming out playing like ass to start the year.
Trade Jimmy. Take pressure off of Bam, just say he’s injured or whatever and let him have an easy year. Play the young guys and tank the season for Cooper.

For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

Never mind I think I might have been wrong or hoopshype was wrong in regards to listing the final year as a team option. I assume the 24 million of his contract in the final year is guaranteed with the chance for him to earn 26 million if the team makes it into the second round. Was really hoping for a glimmer of hope when I was looking through his contract stipulations. Carry on to misery

How bad does everyone think it’s going to get? Years of overpaying for loyalty and it’s only getting worse. Don’t think there will be a choice if we get to keep our pick or not a few years from now at this rate

With the way this team looks we should be tanking for Copper Flagg but most likely we’ll be picking near the end of the lottery again and not pay out OKC leading to unprotected picks given up in 2026 and 2028. We need to find a way to trade for a 2026 first.

In a nutshell though we’ve become a poverty franchise and are basically stuck in an endless loop. Good luck to The Arisons putting butts in seats with the team playing like this

The switch was the start of real basketball. Summer league and preseason aren't real basketball. They don't mean a thing.
