I can't really blame him for not moving Ojalari or Slayton if the best offers was 6th or 7th rounders. You probably are going to get better return with a potential comp pick in the offseason.

For what the other edge guys get I don't think much was out there. If a 5th was on the table I think he would have pulled the trigger per the reports.

yeah but isn't there a chance we don't get any comp pick? i think there's some formula based on what free agents we sign and at what dollar value and blah blah blah.

idk, to me, it's only really justifiable imo if we resign them. other teams like the browns, panthers and saints clearly understood the assignment and what to do at the trade deadline

The saints were the only one to get a decent return for a cornerback. Browns got what a 6th rounder for there edge.

Also Azeez is what 24...so a little different in terms of potentially bringing him back like you said.

And yes the comp pick formula is an aggregate of all your incoming FA vs outgoing FA's.

But we are likely to get a 4th rounder this past year based on who we lost. My point is sometimes you gotta hold out for what you want and not just cave to sell a player for whatever just because you are out of it. It hurts for future trade talks if you just cave to make a move.

You can have issues with Schoen on many different areas specifically his first two drafts. This I wouldn't be too upset about because of what players were moved and for what picks...not going to lose my **** over not getting a 6th rounder.

i don't care about getting anything good back in return. the assignment was to sell players to tank and get worse.

the top 7 picks in the draft as of right now stand in order: patriots, jags, saints, panthers, browns, raiders, giants. there is an argument for everyone but the patriots and jags to go qb here. the browns dumped their starting edge, raiders davante adams, saints marcus lattimore, and the panthers don't really have anyone good to dump and they still dumped a couple of players. because they make our team better and could contribute to a W that should have been a L, it isn't worth keeping them. i think it's only justifiable to keep slayton and ojulari if they're a part of the long-term future.

Azeez and Slayton are not changing the margins on Wins/Losses

That would be like Dexter Lawerence who I assume you don't want to move.

dexter lawrence moves it significantly, but there's a chance that azeez and slayton playing could swing a win given thibodeauxs injury and the lack of depth behind slayton

If there is, you probably don't pick him in the first.
