INTUIT DOME THREAD

Post#1 » by madmaxmedia » Sat Nov 2, 2024 4:39 pm

I thought it would be good to have an active Dome thread for questions or posts from people who have gone to games.

Right now on Wednesday December. 11, there is a game scheduled at the Dome for 'TBD vs. Clippers'. I know it's part of the NBA Cup, but does anyone know if that means Clippers are paying at home that day no matter what? Even if the team doesn't advance, it still plays a schedule makeup game against another non-qualifier.

I actually bought tickets to the game as it was convenient date for me, I don't mind the TBD opponent but would rather not find out 2 days before the game is actually somewhere else.

Have you guys checked out ticket prices for the Wall section (for qualified Chuckmarks)?

It's quite easy to go to a game for $29 per seat (that's total price, no fees), even better if you are close to a free shuttle like I am. This is practically cheaper than a movie, I feel like Ballmer is practically paying us to go to games (thanks dude!) From Wammy's thread:

esqtvd wrote:OTOH, it's over 300 bucks for a pair of nosebleed seats at the Sixers game in November. For that kind of coin I can pay my yearly subscription to the BallmerVision stream, buy the League Pass cable package, and be halfway to a new 70-inch Vizio. And a nice bottle of Jack goes for the price of a couple Coors Lights at the new Clip Joint.

I am looking at the Wall seats in the app and cheapest tickets are $70 each.

I went to the Billy Joel concert a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it- great arena. They need some stand up table though to eat- that was the one missing part that Staples has.

We are going to our first game tonight. Hope they pull off an upset.

Looked half-empty vs the Spurs. Did Ballmer overestimate LA's thirst for paying hundreds of dollars to watch a 30-win team, despite all the luxurious bathrooms?

Has anyone taken the free shuttle and can share their experience? If a game starts at 7:30, how early do you need to be at the pickup spot? I would imagine at least 2 hours prior to tipoff given the LA traffic (I am like 15 mins away from the El Monte station).

The transition to Intuit from Staples are going to take some time. DTLA has $15-20 dollar parking lots just blocks from Staples, while Intuit doesn't have that yet. Staples didn't start off that smoothly either. Remember Staples opened in 1999 and LA Live and the rest of the surrounding didn't come until 2007. Intuit is tucked inside a extremely tight corner of Prairie and Century with small sidewalks in a busy intersection with no public transportation upgrades (yet). Its a much much bigger commitment and trek to get to Inglewood as opposed to DTLA which has five freeways, metro rail, and numerous streets. Then the perceived lack of star power in letting PG go and Kawhi out made it a non-urgent affair to get down to the new arena to see the team. And I've heard a few people not coming because they don't want to deal the the Intuit Dome app which is a pain in the azz when you first use it.

But a good team is starting to emerge from the ashes, two big glitzy hotels are coming, hopefully more parking options, improved Clipper shuttle service, more bus option, more bars/restaurants, etc. down the line. The arena is amazing and its ours. Give it a couple of years to get things really going. Staples/Crypto took years before the area became what it was. There was nothing around it for years until LA Live came in nearly ten years later in 2007

Fair enough. Great post.

None of this makes any sense businesswise, but this not a business for Ballmer. It's a fantasy plaything, and bleeding $100 or $200 million a year on his dream isn't even real because the team appreciates at least by that much annually anyway.

So he can test out the $70 parking and the stupid app and The Wall and all the rest and not feel a thing. Fact is, he made all that money as CEO of Microsoft and is really not responsible for anything that anybody else couldn't have done. Like owning an NBA team, it's a pooch that can't be screwed.

When you reserve a ride, it will tell you when the pick up time is. I imagine pick up times vary for each shuttle location, for the Pierce College shuttle the pick up was about 2 hours before tip off.

Overall the experience was great, I'm definitely taking the shuttle for any games I go to. The drop off is 2 blocks away from arena and a pretty short walk.

There are empty seats and deep discount offers on tickets. It seems to me as the 2nd-place contender in LA, making the Clippers and the Ballmerdome a hot ticket and an affordable experience would have been the smart marketing strategy. A lot of people have seen the prices and heard the horror stories and have already written off attending a game, let alone bringing the whole family and building the next generation of fans.

I don't get it. Ballmer could make it affordable and popular, but like everything he does, it's kind of weird and off-putting.

Give it some time bro. The arena has only be in existence for three months. I get the concern for the empty seats, I've been to five games already myself so I definitely get it. But things will work out eventually. We have a home now and that's the important thing.

I'm just looking for some soul. For all his antics, Ballmer just ain't got any. There's a sterility to everything. I mean, it looks like they're all going to be put into suspended animation or something.

Hey, isn't that pirate theme badass? Yes, I know it's also sort of the Raiders, but the grinning skull with crossed swords and basketballs beats the hell out of the Love Boat of Death. That's what I'm talkin' about.

As for the wisdom of starting out top of market instead of working up, I guess we'll see. What's your impression of the swells, as we used to call them? You know, the elites paying impossible $$ to see a middling team? These are not the Lakers or the Dodgers, or even the Knicks. Is the Ballmerdome a thing?

I don't get the complaints about ticket pricing, there are plenty of affordable seats available in the Wall section with no extra fees either when purchased through the Intuit app. If you want to watch say marquee opponents it's going to be pricier, especially if you start moving closer to the floor.

I understand parking situation isn't ideal due to shortage of available space around the arena, but the free shuttles are at least a reasonable attempt to help fans.

The food prices aren't too bad IIRC, Chuckmark verification gets you a discount as well.

Cool logo.. A little too much going on, but its dope. The people are at Intuit Dome, its just as of right now the top of the upper decks aren't filled to capacity. But the NBA as a whole is kind of weird this season. Even my Laker friends aren't even pumped up, running their mouths, and claiming to go to games even though staples/Crypto is ten times easier to get to than Intuit. LA is a NBA city through and through, but it is sort of reflecting/mirroring with all the negative talk about the league with bad ratings and whatnot. I know you want to do the 2nd fiddle thing with the Clipps, but everyone is sitting back to see how things play out, Laker fans as well. Hardcore Clipper and Laker fans are locked in, but the casuals seem to not give a sh*t right now. This season just seems off and different as of right now. Its not what you think it is.

And this is the Clippers locker room. Far from serial and very soulful!
