Nets had control of the game tonight but blew it in the last few minutes. Cavs do look good but schedule has been a bit easy.
Cavs real test is the playoffs.
Cavs are looking like the DD & Lowry Raps. Great regular season performers, only to flame out in the playoffs.
Think they have a much higher ceiling than the Demar/Lowry Raptors. Significantly better than them if we’re just comparing teams. Unfortunately for them, the competition is just much better nowadays lol.
When Garlard, Levert, Ty Jerome and Okoro start calming down from 3 a little, they will look a little different. Mitchell might calm down a little, too. He's shooting over 40% from 3 and hasn't ever done that before and has only ever shot 38% twice, but he may also be having a peak season.
Either way, they're shooting over 42% from 3 as a team, and when they start to have cold spells from 3, that offense is going to start looking a lot different over time. They are ALSO shooting 60.3% inside the arc, so it will drop off only so much, but they may look a little more mortal as the season wears on. They're bottom-4 at offensive rebounding and are pretty bad about getting to the line, and converting therefrom (relatively), which will also hurt consistency.
They're also defending really well, so we'll see. I think WaltFrazier is right: the playoffs will be the test. How will they weather game to game offensively? Their D, if it maintains, should keep them in it but we'll have to see.
EDIT: They're kind of like a Warriors-lite setup at the moment, if you think about it.
