Nikola Jokic is the best basketball player I have ever seen.
Completely redefines efficiency and team offense.
I think it's utterly assinine to claim Curry was better at his peak

jokic does not give a chance for voter fatigue argument. somehow he gets better every year and it is impossible to vote for someone else. the year he slightly regresses will be the year someone else wins.

Except when he was robbed by the racist argument and voter fatigue.

What's his worse game so far this season? 16 pts 12 boards 13 assists 6-13 FG 1-3 3P 3 stocks 3 TOs

The 2005-06 Suns will always have a special place in my heart

Redefines it? No. That would be Curry because there is no peer to Curry.
Jokic is getting praise similarly to how LeBron got praise. They are both worse than Curry at his peak.

Curry is great, but at their best, LeBron and Jokic are better. I don't share the view that it's "utterly asinine" to say Curry was better, but I don't think he was.

I think Jokic and LeBron are/had better careers than Curry, but I am not sure the gap is as wide as everyone thinks.
If Steph wins another chip with The Dubs this season (with no legitimate all star running mate) that really puts him elite/legendary company from a legacy perspective (joining Duncan and Kobe)

It’s still Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron at 1 and 2 respectively for me, but Jokic is definitely in that conversation and I wouldn’t blame anyone of placing him ahead. It’s also what makes this very frustrating, because Denver has one of these greatest of all time type of player and they’re deciding to be cheap and surround him with what is mostly deadwood. You should be building a dynasty with this guy.

yeah, this thread should be suspended pending developments
like others have said, talking about "voter fatigue" is laughable and seeding too tbh, Nuggets won alot of close games, their record is misleading but even if we assume the Nuggets finish 6th (for example), Jokic has played the best stretch of starting 10 games anyone has ever played. if u really think Tatum or SGA (losing Chet is huge as they'll start dropping games) is going to win it just because of 5 or even 10 more team wins despite the huge gap in production from Jokic to anyone else, i've got a bridge to sell ya
until Jokic starts to come back down to earth - he's the unanimous MVP. it hasn't happened yet but there's no point in debating until he does in fact start to cool off, have some bad games etc
after 10 games, "Nikola Jokic" is the only valid answer to the question: "who is MVP?"

I’m glad we live in a time where all these games are recorded… 20 years from now joker stat lines are going to need video evidence to be believed

Jokic deserves it every year, after he retires they should rename it the "Jokic award"

also, it's way easier for me to imagine nuggets finishing 1st before 6th

You watch Nikola and you think, "yep, that's the best he'll ever be, that's his peak"... then he gets better in the next year, and in the next, and in the next, and so on.

Jokic is running away with it at this point.
Tatum a distant second.
SGA and AD are still in the mix.

Redefines it? No. That would be Curry because there is no peer to Curry.

Are you trying to get folks to not take you seriously ?

To be fair, up to that point there wasn't really a strong consensus on him other than being a bonafide top 3 guy in the NBA. The lack of team success and seedings in gis prior MVP seasons brought the validity of his godly PER, WS/48 and BPM stats.
Even when they finally got the 1 seed, it wasn't really enough because his reputation was what it was.
I never dismissed his MVPs, but I certainly didn't realize how good he was. An effeciency monster, but perhaps some small limitations.
The world saw Denver's playoff run and it out the media on notice. The second round series vs Phoenix put all of us on notice.
They were championship favorites, KD was still KD, and Jokic was the clear best player in the series.
The narrative changed after 2023. Jokic has had a GOAT peak since 2021, but NBA fans didn't realize it until after the championship.
So the narrative has changed. Voter fatigue may not be an excuse anymore. Everyone knows he's in his own stratosphere
