McCain did this with both Ball and Miller guarding him. Both taller, more athletic. He smoked both of them all game. Amazing job by the rook. I'm sold.

I know it's one game vs. a not-so-great team, but McCain looked damn good tonight. He has shown that he's much more than a catch and shoot guy. He can drive to the basket, he can defend (I thought he defended that ridiculous shot made by LaMelo at the end of regulation really well), he can make clutch FTs and he isn't afraid to dive on the floor for loose balls.

My only concern is how he and Maxey will fit together when the latter comes back.

If we have to use him as trade bait for another wing before the deadline, I'd understand but I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't be upset to see him go.

TJ McConnell or Austin Reaves are comparisons I can see with McCain. Far more than just spot up shooters on offense. They are also great effort culture guys.

Although both of them came in 3-4 years older so McCain could have a higher ceiling.

I actually think Kyle Lowry is the perfect mentor for McCain. Small but sturdy guards who impact the game through shooting & bball IQ and both have natural leadership qualities.

Plus Yabu has definitely earned a real look at playing the 4 next to Joel and even Drummond. He's taking 4 3pters a game on 43% makes in 21 minutes... Serious volume. Can play in the dunker spot with Joel too and situational backup 5 even if Drummond struggles. Plus he can provide a viable 2nd big screener when Joel is taking up attention off ball where he can roll or pop for Maxey and George. So far, he's such a great pickup

Anyways, good win yesterday with the game ball going to McCain. Hopefully, this will continue as I love the overall team effort but the coaching needs to improve on play calling and the odd rotations as we barely won in spite of this.
