They are trying to find a big to HELP bam in the front court which is hard to find. It is easy to find wings to help Butler. Martin, Iggy, Crowder, Tucker and Highsmith are all wings that help Butler. They were looking for guards to help Herro, Westbrook, Paul, Vincent, Nunn, Lowry, Oladipo. In general bigs are hard to find. The Heat wanted to keep Olynyk as a frontcourt pair with Bam.
Then just trade for help vs draft and wait 3-5 years for the young big develop? Seems reasonable when you have a 1-2 punch that has proven to be good in the playoffs.
twix2500 wrote:Whiteside has nothing to do with this build. After Bosh was gone for good, Whiteside was just an trade asset. You have to factor in the Heat didnt have picks to trade because of the big three and dragic trade. Out all of the crap poster gave on signing Waiters, Johnson and Whiteside, the Heat successfully did what they were trying to do, develop them into trade assets. They were able to trade Whiteside, Johnson, and Waiters into Jimmy Butler, Iggy and Crowder (was suppose to be Gallinari but couldnt agree to a new contract). After Bosh went down, the Heat didnt have any trade assets except for Dragic. They made Whiteside, Waiters and Johnson trade assest out of NOTHING.
Sure, Whiteside had nothing to do with this build but it was another overpayment of a player nobody wanted, at least at a max contract although they did cash him out for M.Leonard and Harkless, not exactly a good haul for someone Miami's FO decided to hand a max contract to.
Butler was forcing himself to Miami because of how Spoelstra ran the team. Both Butler and Wade hated how the coaching was in Chicago (and so did I as a fan) and at that time Butler knew he liked Thibodeau's style of coaching and through talks with Wade he felt he'd like Spoelstra's. All Miami's FO did was find a way to make it happen, same thing with Oladipo. These weren't the FO acquing talent, it was just doing the paperwork to get the acquisitions done.
twix2500 wrote:There are things you are not taking in consideration which is understandable becaue you wasnt following the Heat at that point. Winslow was being developed as a point guard. Going into to camp Winslow was going to be the starting point going into Butler first season. Unfortunately Winslow had Thotitis and swimming with dolphins during his Thotitis therapy. And a lot of people here forget. It was suppose to be PG: Winslow, SG: Waiters, SF: Butler going into camp. Nunn and Duncan beat out Waiters for the starting shooting guard spot.
Plain and simple... since LeBron left, nearly a decade (9 years) the only real positives from this FO were drafting Bam, possibly drafting Herro, doing the accounting to allow Butler and Oladipo force their ways to Miami and making a few trades for vets at the end of their careers. Toss in Jaquez Jr and whoever else that's young, that's not a whole lot of progress in building a roster without the luxury of 2 players forcing their way to Miami.
You can keep talking about point guard Winslow, that was ridiculous but when you don't have much to root for, that was what Miami fans were gripping onto who topped out at 12.6 ppg. For god's sake this organization tried to make Richardson one of the top options for the offense.
I'm sure you can justify nearly every move but when you take a step back and look at what got done with the roster you can see the real picture that nothing really got done by this FO. It's almost like... Miami only did the book keeping to acquire Butler because he was the best they could get and didn't truly believe in his talent until Miami went to the ECF the 2nd time with him which to me is once again having me doubt in their ability to judge higher level talent.
Where would this franchise be now without Butler forcing his way to Miami?

It’s ok i’ll take some arrows lol. Let’s see if he can build up consistency cause 1 out of 20 games you get to pump your chest ain’t gonna cut it. Happy for him last night.
I hope that Spo was using him wrong this whole time and maybe with Jimmy out the way he can show this more often.

I think it’s time we had a national conversation about HOF DPOY All-NBA Bam Adebayo. Quite frankly, I fear we’re going to lose him forever mentally if we don’t pull him out of his current funk.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

FOREVERRRRRR lol is so dramatic. Bam is gonna be fine. That two man game he's working with Niko looked nice and is something you can certainly build some clean actions and get him some easy buckets early. Herro should also get a stupid amount of wide open 3s off that action too.
Miami / Chicago / London

I wouldn't say I am a Jovic hater, but spiking a football over 1 game of 15 and 7 when he is averaging 9 and 4 on pedestrian shooting %?
I mean, he is basically competing with undrafted players and Kevin Love, who is trying to become the new Haslem, and he can't consistently get 25+ minutes.

Flirted with a triple double, had 4 “stocks” which everyone always makes a big deal about and was a team high +12 and the falloff when he sat was noticeable to the point Spo played him 40 minutes. When he snaps out of the worst funk of his career he’s going to be completely fine (elite as usual). Wolves shot 14% against Bam, he got scored on 1 time.
People like to pile on when he struggles for whatever reason when he has multiple seasons averaging 20 or near 20 as the 3rd option.
If he doesn’t leave he’s an undeniable top 5 Heat player ever probably fighting for 3rd when it’s all said and done, he’s the number 1 most hated though for whatever reason. Well him and Bosh maybe, people forget how much they **** on him when he struggled
