Quite surprised by this news - good to hear and interesting to see how it will effect our rotation.

I'm glad he's been cleared. It's good for him and gives us another potential developmental piece.

It doesn't make us better in the short term though.

Excellent. This absolutely helps the Pistons immediately, and immensely.

The defense has been really robust this year already, but Ausar is a clamp down defender, and is choas in the passing lanes.

Super excited for his impact. Only concern I have is how long will it take him to get up to game speed.

Lets go!!! I was getting worried he might just be done (kept on hoping, but the total lack of news made it rough). Hope he's used this time off to sharpen his shooting and tighten his handling.
The idea that he's just a developmental piece and offers no value to us is bonkers, though! He played some borderline elite defense in stretches last season. Having a guy like that to throw at the Lukas of the world matters a ton for this roster!

Great news! Might help get a rebound in key situations. That's certainly a big need. How many times can they let the opponent get three chances at a basket before it comes back to bite?

But, to be clear, we have to be careful about how we implement him on offense. We don't need to create lineups that are spacing nightmares like last season. I have confidence that Bickerstaff will be better than Monty on that front, though.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out... Do they throw him into the rotation mix right away, or perhaps send him to G League to get his legs under him and shake off the rust.

Does this mean coach expands to a 10 man rotation or does this mean someone else gets bumped out? Originally before the season started I thought that Holland might get bumped out once Ausar came back but Holland has been pretty decent for a rookie.

Duren is likely coming back on Tuesday against the Heat as he was a "doubtful game-time decision" yesterday.

I think the most likely scenario is that Ausar probably takes Hollands minutes. In a perfect world he would take over the starting role for THJ but we need Timmys shooting in the starting lineup I think. Its nice to be in a position where we have to work to fit someone in rather then play Gleaguers though. Great problem to have!

Ausar returning is big for this team. His wing defense is definitely needed Holland has been solid with Ausar out I expect him to strive in the G league and continue to work on his overall game especially his shooting.

That's big news, they really miss that defensive presence on the wing although Holland has provided some of that off the bench and good for Ausar as well to get his health in order.

The minutes distribution should be interesting now. I wonder if they work him into the starting lineup and THJ comes off the bench although that would take away some vital shooting from the starting lineup. Don't really see Holland and Ausar on the same unit clicking so I'll be interesting to see how it shakes out. I hope this doesn't push Holland out of the rotation, he clearly belongs in the league and needs to develop with minutes.

Why wouldn't it help in the short term? He'd immediately be their best defender and their best rebounder from the wing.

I think he hurts us at least as much offensively as he may help defensively.

At least as of now. The hope is he improves. But that’s a long term hope.

I seriously doubt he goes to the g-league. Why waste runs there? He's not recovering from a surgical repair or serious injury and he has been with the team, staying in shape.

I really hope he's been developing his 3P shot during this downtime... a thousand reps per day, at least.
I'd like to see him get some burn in the G League, because I have some free Motor City Cruise tickets. :)

I disagree. He's the type of player Bickerstaff utilizes well on offense. Slasher, cutter, screen-setter, willing passer. This isn't a "just stand around & watch or jack 3's" offense anymore.

You can play Stew & Ausar together easier than Duren & Ausar. Just sayin...

That's 30% more wins just by having somebody to help Cade Defend and grab a rebound at the end of a game. That's Huge
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!
