Cam Johnson has had an exceptional start to the season in Brooklyn, averaging nearly 17ppg on good efficiency.
Meanwhile, Philly’s wing/forward rotation has been disappointing to say the least, with Cody Martin and Kelly Oubre shooting under 30% from 3.
Jake Fischer recently reported that Philly is looking to move 1st round draft capital to upgrade their roster and we all know Brooklyn wants to tank.
The salaries match up almost perfectly:
Cam Johnson= $22.5 M cap hit
2 of Cody/Kelly/KJ + $7.5M= $23.5M cap hit
The 76ers can trade the following 1st round picks unencumbered:
1) 2026 Worst of HOU/LAC/OKC- Not appealing to Brooklyn
2) 2028 LAC
3) 2029 Best of PHI/LAC (4-30)
4) 2030 PHI
5) 2031 PHI
Do you think there’s a reasonable deal to be had here?

I don't love that for Philly. I'd rather pay a couple 2nd for Doe Doe. He's not the same shooter, but on a team with Embiid/Maxey he's going to get corner 3's and he makes those. Plus he still defends better.
Just not convinced Cam is worth a first and the loss of flexibility.

Re: Cam Johnson to Philly?
PHI can't take on more salary, they are above the 1st Apron, their trade will most likely be to 3rd/4th player under rookie scale contract, their depth is shallow as it is.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Re: Cam Johnson to Philly?
The Sixers would have to move all 3 of Martin, Oubre, and KJ to match salary... plus you want a good 1st?
No thank you.

Nets got three 2nd round picks for expiring deal of Royce at deadline last year. I'm sure they can do better than a couple 2nds for (potentially expiring) DFS, who is the better player than Royce.Texas Chuck wrote:I don't love that for Philly. Great. As always if you can get more, by all means, get more.

Re: Cam Johnson to Philly?
I like Cam's fit on the court quite a bit for the Sixers, but the contract is problematic. If it was just contact filler and a pick I'd be good with it, but being required to give up one of Oubre or Martin just feels like there's probably better options out there that would leave them as a deeper, better team.

The odd man out on the Nets right now is DFS due to his age
IF Johnson keeps up his level of play and IF he remains healthy then his contract is fine & he’s worth keeping around
