We are falling apart in the 4th...the minutes our 5 starters are playing are unsustainable
It finally clicked for me when I saw how many OPEN 3's Indy hit in the 4th
Prior to that I was saying to myself- "look at us- with 6 guys we are out-classing Indy"
Most of the issues with the team are EXTREMELY correctable. Extremely.
The depth issue dissappears with health. But that as we know can be a very up and down thing esp with a Thibodeau team lol
The biggest one to me is defensive scheme to compensate for lack of rim protection. We have yet to see Thibs be successful playing for long stretches without a rim protector. But guess what? Precious in theory should be back pretty soon. Mitch should be back before the mid point of season.
If, if if they stay healthy Thibs if unsuccessful at playing KAT too many minutes at 5 almost definitely WILL switch to a combination of KAT at 5 and then twin tower approach.
The lineup of
Mitch/Precious/KAT
KAT/OG
OG/Hart/Bridges
Bridges/Hart/McBride
Brunson/McBride/Payne
Is a loaded line up capable of playing Thibs preferred style. What they lose in 5 out ability they gain in rebounding and elite rim protection. Thibs style has worked for this team 3 of 4 years marvelously.
No rebounds, no rings as Pat Riley used to say. Knicks lived off of 2nd chance points off of offensive rebounds last season from Hartenstein and company. Not so much this year.
Do you know who has better per 36 minute rebounding numbers than Randle and Hart and only one fewer than iHart and Mitch?
Precious.
Sounds like Payne and Deuce are both playing
