lol imagine if the raptors "lucked" out and made it into the lottery for this past draft and kept their pick, so many would be on suicide watch right now(or maybe just myself)

Imagine if we didn't trade for Poeltl in a vain attempt to make the playoffs. We would have had a higher pick in 2023, retained our 2024 pick, and be in a similar position currently in 2025 draft.

Barnes should in no way factor into who we draft. His limitations are his own problem, not for some other player help mask to make him look good. If we land Flagg and the fit is clunky, you trade Barnes.

Can’t go wrong either one, but I do think our team has so many weaknesses that Coop will be better for us. Ace will easily fill that go to scorer role though, so it’s a very tough choice if we are lucky enough to choose.

I feel like the "other" areas are easier to fill, but we desperately need a top shelf scoring talent. Ultimately I'd be happy with either one, but a potential top 5 offensive player in the league would be where I'd lean.

Ace could replace RJ, and he could fetch us players or bundled to fetch us another high level player to fill our gaps. Getting Flagg puts us in a Siakam/Barnes situation again with a lot of overlap, both of them look firmly to be PFs, and while Scottie could probably slide into the SF role a bit easier, I think ideally he stays as a PF.

Granted, BPA is BPA so this is all subject to change, and if Flagg REALLY becomes a consensus #1 player, then you pick him no matter what. All things being equal I think we need the scoring punch more than anything.

What's the word on their defence? I haven't heard much about either of them in those aspects.

Can Flagg move his feet and turn his hips to keep up with a generic NBA SF?

If he can, don't we have have a game breaking weak-side defender always patrolling the court (i.e. Barnes or Flagg will be hedging and disrupting at all times).

Has there ever been a team with two ROY caliber hybrid forwards like that?

I'm intrigued by that combo.

I do think the Ace archetype has been historically shown to be a good fit.

I think if they could fit together, that would be twin towers 2.0, but I'm not sure if It's ever been done before. Ace would slot right in though, the "safer" option I guess.

You keep whoever is the better player, he's played 2 games in college, no one knows who the issue would be, if any lol.

A little annoying that none of the Chicago/Atlanta/Detroit/Charlotte group, which feel like our tanking competitors (Washington and Utah I don't think we can be as bad, Portland probably either because they're in the West) have had a lucky start you sometimes get from bad teams before the league is proper sorted out. Brooklyn at 5-6 is a nice surprise.

Coop is definitely capable of playing the 3 from what I’ve seen. Yes, it could be similar to Siakam/Scottie (which wasn’t that bad at all) but Coop is just more versatile and switchable he makes it work. Scottie unfortunately looks very much a 4 and should start defining his game as that.

with the flattened odds, a 14% chance at winning the lotto isn't great, and the bottom 3 teams all get those odds. But if the talent is there, in a good draft guaranteeing a top-5 pick (with a 40% shot at top-3, 52% shot at top-4) definitely has value.

Another injury.

Team is going to be 15-20 Ls in before we even have a chance at seeing a semi healthy roster.

Its about that time in the season where you have to be making calls about Yak/Boucher/Brown and trying to move them especially Yak since hes playing decent and is not injured yet....We need to cash in while we can...Many teams could use a player like him.

The Poetl trade was awful but getting Grady out of it who looks like the 2nd best rookie in the class so far makes it less bad. Zach Edey as a building block instead of Poetl would have been amazing tho.

Only the worst of those three are guaranteed a top 5 pick though. Important distinction.

Knowing you'll at least get one of Flagg, Bailey, Harper, Traore, Edgecombe would make all the losing absolutely worthwhile.

Why do you want to find out if a healthy roster is play-in or not? it's below mediocrity
