Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst trying to slander The Big Murder KAT is nasty work and they should be shamed for it.

90% allowed at the rim my ass. I'm honestly pissed off about that. People just lie for anything nowadays

-OG was great, no question
-KAT was doing KAT stuff
-Hart was brilliant, trip-dub
-Brunson (unfortunately) was trying to foul bait
-Bridges was a connector, despite not getting his 3PT shots
-McBride was awesome

Only thing I would clean up is their switching, and for Brunson to get out of his own head.
BIRD UP!

I know we've had this luxury for a couple years now, but it still feels refreshing to see a team that can run opponents off the court even when they're not having their best performance. Last night, the turnovers were bad and the 3-point shooting was weak. But it didn't make a difference and they ran Philly off the floor.

Brunson still hasn't hit a rhythm, Mikal's three-point shot has been streaky as hell, and the team-defense is a big work in progress.

But there's too much talent on this team to lose to subpar squads. At least when they're fresh. I'm a little nervous about tonight since it's a back-to-back after KAT and OG played heavy minutes and Brunson rolled his ankle. But the real next step will be to start closing out games against playoff caliber opponents.

Beating Chicago on night two would be nice. But I'm already eyeing the matchup with the Suns, next week, as a great chance to measure how chemistry is going.

KAT is a great passer anyway and knows how to deal with double or triple teams so you could really make him be the focal point in offense.

i agree. need better designed plays - maybe guys setting off ball screens for him to flare out to the 3 etc

one criticism i'll give him is he doesn't set the greatest screens. they're not terrible but he's not stone walling guys either.

i think there needs to be more actions where he gets the ball in the high post and there's movement/cutting around him. this way if teams stay up on him he can find guys with the pass and if not he can just take the shot or pump and drive etc.

outside of that a lot of it comes down to brunson not playing well. he's missing towns on the pops often and defenses aren't as worried about him since he's not making 3s. if brunson gets back to a high level the 2 man game should work very well with basic Pick actions.
Parraknick wrote:Low key loved the first few minutes of the second half, Deuce with the starters

yea don't want to keep slandering brunson - but it was better ball on both sides. defensively we already know deuce is a huge plus and the way brunson was playing offensively, deuce was a plus there too. it made the team play more of a balanced style instead of brunson just pounding the air out of the rock the entire possession.

It’s cause of all the threes. Too much chucking of 3’s and taking away what the defense can do has made fans genuinely bored by just watching opposing teams run up and down, shoot, then miss, rinse and repeat.

The Knicks have the 2nd best offensive rating but fans think it's bad, because not enough threes I guess. We are conditioned to want more threes a game and a fast pace.

it's not about not making enough 3s as much as the offense often looks like a struggle. guys are making shots that may not be sustainable. good offenses generate open jump shots and uncontested shots at the rim - or draw fouls etc. ball movement breaking down the defense and "flow" etc. knicks have this in spurts but many games in the 4th have been lost with poor offensive execution.

The offense will look a lot better once Jalen gets going. Teams aren’t doubling him, choosing instead to just switch to guard against the pick and pop. When he really gets going, teams will have to double from somewhere. That’s when the offense will really look easy.

Some of you people are beating a well worn path to and from the ledge you either need to adjust your expectations or your medications but this bipolar reactions game after game cannot be good for your mental health.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

I have seen teams doubling him. They are also putting much taller players on him. Defense is geared to slow him down every night. He's giving up the ball early or Hart is bringing up the ball quite a bit. Just like last year when teams were throwing the kitchen sink at him, he will figure things out. It has been ten games with a brand new team. I am sure they will work all of the kinks out.

Morning thoughts.

1.The assistant coach who is in charge of replays needs a raise. Great call by him last night challenging that KAT foul that was overturned!

2.Is Jared McCain related to someone at TNT? Jesus Christ they were knobbing the kid every chance they got!

3.Brunson will be fine. He finished strong last night with 10 points in the 4th. I am starting to wonder if his hand is not fully healed cause the jumper looks a bit off but I also see him thinking too much out there. But he'll be aight. He's Jalen **** Brunson. Mr. I averaged 40 ppg in the playoffs.

4.Sims is giving us some nice minutes as of late with good defense, easy dunks and offensive rebounds. Which is all we need from him.

5.We outscored Philly 33-24 in the 4th and outrebounded them 48-40 which are great signs.

6.The same asshats that trash Brunson and Thibs will also turn on KAT and OG the first chance they get. You guys and gals are an embarrassment to the fan base and if I could somehow ban you from this fandom, I would!

7. I really hate and despise Embiid! There is a lot of Alonzo Mourning in that fool.

KAT has actually been fairly poor with double teams and traps in the past. He has improved some in recent years though and so fr on the Knicks he seems much more comfortable with passing out of doubles. I believe he has always thought of himself as a great passer, he just hasn't had a ton of opportunity to flex is. The wolves have had horrendous shooters until recent years.

The Knicks are set up very well for Towns to flex his passing skills and grow them. He's still evolving and learning, dude is not a finished product, you traded for him just as he is entering his prime so there is room still to grow which is exciting. If he ever cleans up the mental issues (fouls, complaints, some air-headed stuff on defense) he will be a top 15 player in the league without question IMO.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Ten games in. 5 & 5. I know we're a Playoff team but not sure where we fall on the mediocre-to-really-good scale. Well short of last February right now, for sure.

2nd best offensive rating because we’re making 2’s efficiently. I mean they read a stat last game that said Hart is shooting 75% on 2’s and leading the league lol

The issue is if a team is shooting the 3 well we are going to lose the game if we’re just sticking with our 2’s. 40% from 3 is better than 55% from 2. And the top threats in the east have a lot of 3 point hunting teams and we tend to give up a lot of open 3’s due to our defensive schemes.

It’s a recipe for disaster eventually unless we are going to rely on Boston, Indy, etc to have 4 bad shooting games in a series. We have to ramp up our attempts and makes for sure

Yes 3s have become too important to winning or losing now. The metrics say to spam them
