Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
Whenever I think that Horst has to go, I read these trade suggestions and realize how much worse it could be if one of the posters was in charge. Trading BP for various bags of donuts is laughable. Paul Reed plus draft choices? Some unnamed defender?
Yes, get rid of the Bucks second best rebounder and third best scorer and one of their more efficient scorers (yes, he is below his usual efficiency, although he is shooting 46% overall despite bad 3 point shooting).
If I had to list ten reasons the Bucks are doing poorly, BP wouldn't be sniffing that list. You all are welcome to join me Friday night in Oshkosh and I will do an in-service training while we watch the Herd.

Bobby's on/off splits are so bad that trading him for a bag of donuts would not only improve the team on court but would give the team some delicious donuts to snack on as well. It's a win/win in my books.

You could do that trade and send Conny to Detroit for Jalen Duran. Saves 6 mil and gives you 2 bigs and a wing.RiotPunch wrote:Ron Swanson wrote:Brook and Bobby for DeAndre Hunter and Larry Nance actually sounds pretty good. Is that a legal trade?
Works perfectly fine as two separate deals. Not legal combined as we still come out of it above the 2nd apron, I believe.
Don't mind that one bit, though.

I think there should be separate forums for those that want to analyze the game and a player and those that want to throw out on/off splits and call it an analysis.

Here's a trade I could live with and give BP haters some joy:
Bucks Out: BP, AJJohnson and Marjon
Bucks in: Kevon Looney, GPIII and Kyle Anderson

People do analyze the game, literally every single game, and without fail if they point out Bobby's (many) downfalls they're met with being told they don't know basketball and his 10 rebounds and 15 points on 15 shots is the catalyst for this team.

Not really. They just do what you just did, which is belittle getting 10 rebounds a game and implying that BP is an inefficient scorer, which he historically isn't.
So if your analysis is rebounding is unimportant and he just chucks up shots, then we disagree.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
I think all three of these things can be true. Bobby is both our only scoring option outisde of Giannis and Dame, he''s our only rebounder other than Giannis, AND he's very, very VERY bad on defense to start the year.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
Watching that ugly Detroit game makes me remember that..
- I love the small ball lineup with Giannis at 5
- You just can’t use a small ball lineup with Brook
- You just can’t play anything with Bobby at 5
- I love Bobby/Brook lineups against second units
- I hate Giannis/Bobby lineups where Bobby thinks he is Giannis and takes 15 shots
All of that make me wonder if a change in the minutes distribution could help our situation. I’m thinking something like this.
Giannis (16)/Bobby (20)/Prince (12)
Brook (28)/Giannis (20)
That’s actually a full quarter of Prince/Giannis and another of Bobby/Brook. It’s also about reducing minutes which is essential in an old/slow team. Even when Middleton returns Doc should go 10-11 deep to keep everyone fresh and involved.
Dame (36)/Wright (12)
Trent (24)/Green (16)/AJJ (8)
Midds (28)/Pat (16)/AJJ (4)
Giannis (16)/Bobby (20)/Prince (12)
Brook (28)/Giannis (20)

My analysis on Bobby is he rebounds well for a power forward, he shoots good for a big but he also has basically never been more than a middling efficiency offensive player because of the absolutely mind boggling amount of forced, terrible looks he requires. Defensively he is nothing more than a four who has a tough time defending any perimeter action and his IQ is insanely subpar that anything around him might as well be going on in China. I think he's your prototypical sixth man type of old who get theirs at the expense of basically any team basketball on either end and these guys can be fine minute eaters, have a few nice games when it matters sometimes and occasionally his energy propels us but ultimately their value to a team is far less than any "traditional" numbers will show. I also think having that guy backing up or playing with the best offensive power forward in the league overlaps and straight up doesn't compliment our best player in almost any way, even if you move Giannis to center.
With all that said, despite thinking swapping Bobby for a Larry Nance type puts us in a better team position, especially if you could/should get more out of that type of deal, I think Brook continuing to be a 30+ minute a game player is just as big of a problem so unless we could find a couple 15-25 minute a game guys to replace Bobby we'll be in a pretty similar situation.

If it means we get the version of Khris that we got in the last playoffs, thats fine with me. We cannot be a sub 500 team without him and expect that he will save us. We need to figure out life without him, become a very good team, and have his return be the thing that puts us over the top into title contention.
KM spending time in games with his team becomes vital because:
1. Weak coaching (guys figure it out)
2. Disjointed big 2
3. Disjointed big 3
4. Confused defense
Furthermore, yeah him and BP did some nice hongo isolation ball but without running jointed, plays with successful variations -- we're gone 1st or 2nd round and nice isolation hongo ball isn't changing that, is it.
well, obviously, i wasn't saying that he should not play in the regular season at all. but give him 40 games to gel and then roll into the playoffs. i think the people who are demanding answers about Khris or are demanding that he plays asap need to be honest with themselves about why they feel that way. I suspect that it's because you want to feel good about this team again the quickest way possible. I saw what we were last year with the four horsemen healthy. I'm not losing sight of that.
I see your point there. For me it's not ASAP.. but if he plays 40 games and he's jogging around barely moving for half of them like last regular season the gelling won't happen.. I think we need at least 35 full speed Mids games even if some are minutes restrictions... play fast for your 20 min then 22 then 24 or whatever.. sprint, hustle and be where you're supposed to be so that your team gets used to how you really play before the playoffs.
I kind of agree that rushing him back could be counter productive, even if it IS frustrating.

What does replacing Portis with a mobile big or Caruso does for us ?
Nothing ... it honestly creates problems.
If we trade Bobby for the X mobile big it doesn't matter if WE START BROOK.... Brook is the problem and Giannis not playing Center.
If we get Caruso or someone similar ... all we do is creating a jam at the SG position ... will we cut AJ Green 's minutes AGAIN ? Are u efing serious? Get your brain together.
Portis is currently our 2nd squad Go To Scorer and our 2nd best rebounder after Giannis.
Did you see our 2nd squad ... they where not decisive enough to get their shots up ... Andre is passive, Brook is passive, they were all waiting Portis to shoot cause by themselves they could not get a decent shot up, our team lacks of handles and a pure point to setup the 2nd squad. Pat C is also pathetic ... Our 2nd squad can't score and replacing Bobby with a defensive minded mobile big there the bench can go scoreless for a whole quarter.
And stop it with the Portis team plus minus ... He is not playing with two Top 75 players, he plays with Pat C and the rest of our scrubs. He aint in his prime but he is still a double double machine.
I am OK trading anyone BUT it has to be a semi or whole roster rebuild. Portis is the least of our problems.
This post was funny at the time, but even funnier after tonight's game lol.

The only important thing that needs to be learned is that Dame needs to learn his role as #2. He's here as support for Giannis. If Giannis has the ball, he needs to screen. He needs to defend someone. He needs to spend all his time with his trainer working on his catch and shoot game. He needs to grow a heart even a quarter the size of the one Giannis has.

Bobby was out and someone else cleaned the glass. Rebounding stats ae a little overrated. Defense is more valuable.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
The Bucks play infinitely harder when Dame is out. They're 8 points better when he's off the floor this year. He's a bad fit, and he can't make shots when he's forced t to defend.
Heat in: Dame
Heat out: Butler, 1st
Rockets in: Butler, Livingston, Smith
Rockets out: Eason, Brooks, Landale, Jeff Green, 2- 1sts
Nets in: Brooks, Landale, Green, 3- 1sts
Nets out: Schroder, Cam Johnson
Bucks out: Dame, Livingston, Smith
Bucks in: Eason, Schroder, Johnson
How good is Eason? He's more Victories Over Replacement than Dame this year despite playing 22 mpg. Serious, do all, winning player. He'd be the Pippen Giannis has always needed. Schroder and Johnson add needed shot making.
Rockets and Nets stay under the tax. Bucks get under the 2nd apron. Nets vets playing too well for their tank dreams.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
Not for or against trading Dame (yet) but one thing I saw that was interesting was Orlando with Black, Issac, filler (Anthony) and picks. It'd be a reset/gamble/admit defeat trade going all in on Giannis and defense and Orlando adds another star to their core with the defense from Suggs/KCP in the backcourt to make up for Dame.
