TimeLord… for Mitch
A healthy Timelord would be the perfect 15-25 minute a night center for us.
Another candidate for trade I've kept my eye on is Norman Powell.. He's had a great start to the season. Decent defender. Could either come off the bench or start. Would jumpstart our offense a bit and provides some crazy shot making at times.
I’d be all over it, but Powell has a 19+ million contract. We only get there if we add Mitch, who is sorely missed. We’re never getting to 31 million for Zubac and Powell… and while Bamba is very interesting at 2.6 million, is he even a second stringer?
I'd rather have Norm than Mitch. I'd honestly rather have a lot of other trade targets than Mitch with this roster.
I'm not too interested in a KAT/Mitch pairing tbh. Our team would just become super slow (and we're already a very slow team) and I don't foresee Mitch having any role offensively with KAT around because:
A) KAT should be the one setting screens so we lose Mitch's lob threat and Brunson's not a great lob thrower anyway
B) If you stick Mitch in the dunker's spot, then his hands are terrible and his finishing has diminshed as his lower leg injuries have piled up. He really can only dunk the ball uncontested. He's also a pretty useless passer. Also, obviously his FT shooting is woeful. When thinking of the Knicks offense and how potent it could be, it's an easy cop out for teams to just foul Mitch and live with the 1 point per possession he'll likely provide.
Mitch to me is useless on this roster unless you're using him for 10-20 minutes a night as a backup 5 but that's a rather large salary chunk to use on a backup IMO. I'd rather see Precious in that role.
If you don't view him as a bench piece, then whose place is he taking in the SL? It has to be Hart right? Is Mitch better at basketball than Hart? IMO no... Does he provide more additive bonuses to that lineup than Hart does? IMO no.... He might stabilize the regular season defense more but, in the playoffs against a team like Boston or Indiana we'll get run off the floor playing KAT and Mitch together for long stretches so it's pointless to me and the Knicks are already a decent to good rebounding team without him.
