We’re going to lose for sure but I really hope we get some possessions of Tidjane matched up with Giannis for the lols

there will be no one left when Grant, Taj, and Diabate are fouled out in the first quarter. probably get a full 6 possessions of it

- Does anyone have any strong opinions on melo's Current usage? He's at 36% which historically puts him in the same category as players like luka, embiid, giannis. Is this a sustainable usage going forward if and when the team gets healthy? Is this level of usage what is best for the success of the team going forward?
- Through 11 games we have seen that the system we are running is obviously very good for lamelo And to a lesser extent mann. Other than our centers Nick Richards and Diabetes who have been told to crash the offensive glass with reckless abandoned, Almost every other player has looked average or below average to their expectations. Is the extremely high usage and one dimensional offense having a negative impact on helping the other players on the roster get going offensively?
- None of this is to put any blame on Lamelo, He's killing it.
- Is this heliocentric version of melo what everyone envisioned is the best version of melo?

I don't think turning Melo into James Harden is a good thing, mainly because of the injury risk. Having Melo do this when others are off is one thing, but having this be the normal is another.

The other reason is this doesn't fit our other players, mainly Miller and Miles. Miles needs to attack the rim, which we don't really do. Miller is (or seemed to be) a high level midrange scorer, which we also don't really do.

if LaMelos injury issues were wear and tear hamstring or knee tendinitis i'd be more worried about high usage. instead he just keeps me at a steady high rate of anxiety because he could really reinjure it at basically any time on or of ball from stepping on a foot. hell, he could step on a fans foot again and be out. he's refined his game to stepbacks and floaters, thats probably about as safe a high usage shot profile as you can get

Agree with KW on the injury risk point, Melo's injuries to date clearly have nothing to do with usage.

On the question of is it a good strategic decision to have Melo carrying this much usage, I think my answer is I don't know but I don't hate having him carry that much usage this season as long as he maintains his efficiency, so let's give it a go and see how he does.

I don't see him as looking off guys or refusing to move the ball, so I think his usage will naturally go down as guys step up. I don't want him being hesitant to step up though when we need it and when other guys are not.

I don't worry so much on the impact the extra touches has on his health. it's more how screwed are we going to be when he inevitably does miss time or if he goes cold while shooting 13-14 threes a game.

His usage is by necessity because Miller and Mann are the only other dudes that can even be trusted to touch the basketball right now. At least while Bridges is out. Let it play out like this as long as he's able to do it efficiently, it's our only source of offense. But eventually we have to actually get a game plan that works without him going nuclear from 3. I hate that we're on our 200th consecutive season of not having an interior presence that isn't a complete liability on one end of the court.

Lamelo looks like he wants to win this year. Not that he didn't in years past, but hardly anyone else is stepping up. Miller is struggling, Mann is hit or miss which im assuming was due to his back, cody martin will swish 2 3s in a row then the next 6 will hit the side of the backboard.

it's crazy how we're in year 5 of LaMelo, we've drafted nicely and gotten some good players every year but 2021, and yet we still look pretty far away from a playoff team.

Our timings are all screwed up because we were in the midst of what the franchise was pushing as a win now build with Terry and Gordon and it took us all the way till midseason last year to get on the correct course. If we wanted to do it right we should have identified LaMelos talent half way through his rookie year and dumped those guys off immediately. Now we’re in another awkward spot with an All NBA level player playing major minutes with a complete project like Salaun and it feels like we only have suboptimal outcomes available:

-acquire mediocre win now help like Ingram
- keep adding kids like the Houston trade ideas for Bridges and potentially push our timeline even further back
- keep treading water and hope Brandon can hit LaMelos level at some point during this max contract before he gets bored and asks for a trade
- trade LaMelo for a pile of assets to a team that fits his
timeline and keep on rebuilding

Idk, kind of hate all of them

But somehow miles is already close to returning. He's certainly not my favorite player, but he is a warrior. I do like that about him.

Hornets can change their injury update template…just leave in “M Williams (L Foot)” so they don’t have to type it every game this year.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
