Whereas he once engendered a uniquely chaotic system, he’s now so ball-dominant that he is the system, leading the NBA with a 36.4 percent usage rate while the Hornets play at a below-average pace. Without him, the Hornets succumb to entropy: when Ball is on the bench, the Hornets’ offense is faster, but also 20.5 points per 100 possessions worse.
Holy ****

Having Miller to help carry the load in non-melo mins should help get that number up to respectable.

It's wild to me that he's averaging 30 points a game this year and his career high is only 38 points a game.

If he stays healthy this season, I have a feeling that career high is going to almost double

Re: LaMelephant: The LaMelo Ball Thread (#2)
he's comfortably been the best PG in the East so far this season. that the only thing keeping him from being All-Star (and the rest of the league may not be ready to have this discussion... but All-NBA) is whether he can play enough. Absolutely special talent.
Watching him attack the rim as much as he ever has tonight, after not getting anything else going in the first three quarters feels like a real turning point for him.

investigate Adam Silver

Hornets' LaMelo Ball fined $100K for using anti-gay term
Charlotte Hornets star guard LaMelo Ball was fined $100,000 after using an anti-gay term during a postgame interview following his team's win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.
The NBA announced the fine -- the maximum amount allowed by league rule -- on Sunday, saying Ball made an "offensive and derogatory comment" during his on-court interview.
Sideline reporter Shannon Spake asked Ball about the team's defensive strategy against Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo on the game's final play, and Ball used an anti-gay term while delivering his answer.

I imagine a lot of this was sort of cumulative for all the F bombs he has dropped on postgame interviews over the years.

100% this, the fine is goofy and over the top especially compared to Ant who drives around filming innocent people living their lives to mock their sexuality but when he's dropping f and s bombs in every postgame interview its hard to really complain

yeah but damn, fines should be based on the action and previous comparable incidents, to me its a pretty bad look for the league to fine LaMelo 4x what Jokic got for literally the same term, or 2x Edwards actual hateful behavior. and if its actually cumulative for the other post game incidents its irresponsible to frame it this way because the headline just comes out that LaMelo gets a maximum fine and the general public will now treat him as the worst offender for it. i'm literally looking at a yahoo.com headline right now about it and thats all people will see and think now
worst part is you can't really appeal it without coming off even worse
idk, to me its really similar to the dumb stoplight/driving stuff, making an absolute mountain out of nothing

Cant say stuff about the gay community my man. Stuff is different now. You can say **** **** ass whatever you want. But not that. He meant no ill harm, but his interviews had to be reigned in lol

Maybe it's just me, but there's just something so refreshing about how Melo seems to approach the game in his post game pressers lol

If Kemba would teach him the head snap he’d probably add 2-3 ppg
