He's clearly the starting PG of the future. Move Suggs back to the 2 and move KCP to the bench when Paolo gets back or they can just bring him in early or have him finish games at the 1.

I kind of like the developing ( ) playmaking of Paolo & Franz with the starters. Therefore, at least for now, I'd like to see AB continue playmaking for the 2nd unit, and primarily for Jett - whose shot is so pure he might quiet my need for Simons (etc) if he gets the chance to go wild and has the draft partner who can complement him and make him look good. If AB takes another leap, moving KCP to the second unit is the only sane thing to do...it's not like AB can't defend. I also wouldn't rule out the possibility of moving KCP to a contender and I think the emotional response about the visuals is overblown. He got his money and he'd get to go to a good situation. Not suggesting it's likely, but just like Franz' brother...it's not "impossible" or an outlandish concept. Fantasizing that KCP would have left DEN for ORL without the pay raise is kid stuff.

Yeah AB is in the right role for him and his development needs right now. He still defers too much to Franz and Suggs without Paolo, with all 3 I think AB reverts to being a wallflower. But with the 2nd unit he gets to run the action and call his own number and that level of responsibility is important for him. And if he and Jett can keep developing their rapport we’ll only be better for it.

Black should definitely be in the mix to close out games depending on how he’s playing, however.

It’s going to happen, no need to rush the process.

I think a nice comp for AB is Dyson Daniels who’s close to the same age but 1 year ahead.

Daniels is having a massive coming out party this year and leading the league in steals in his 3rd season. AB is showing more playmaking while Daniels is a little bit more of a scorer right now. Both tremendous defenders and plus sized backcourt options.

AB has been compared to Daniels a lot. Before this season, it was viewed as a negative. Hopefully, next season AB really starts to break out like Daniels is this season. Daniels is almost 1 year older.

How soon before AB is clearly better than Suggs?

The problem is, he almost scales better then Franz, but based on what we have seen under Paolo. That's a pretty wide range of player to put him in.

Long story made short, Suggs + Black might end up being a dynomo of polar opposites. Where both are tenacious defenders, but one is clearly the better shooter while the other is clearly the better playmaker.

When you think about Coles position as a PG on this team, it makes total sense. Your opponents you play against are KCP / Suggs / Black / Harris. Ugly. My confidence would be in the gutter too potentially.

That being said, we will know for certain by end of next season I think. This year is more or less him getting his taste of a leveled up role on a team that actually needs him to perform in order to win games. He clearly needs to continue his 3-ball work though before we can truly consider him the better player.

Not enough analysis, homer post, toss out article, who does this author think he is, where do you find these guys, did an AI write this, usage rate isn't high enough, played against bums, coach didn't play him over a broomstick, you got to stop comparing him to Magic Johnson, sunk cost.

Don't do this. They're both on the same team. You're going to end up creating a useless division on the board. This happened to Knicks fans when they had Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari.

I kinda get it because they’re both young and have room to grow but I agree with the sentiment. Also, development isn’t linear so who the hell knows anyway.

This would be like Celtics fans arguing over who’s better between White and Jrue. It doesn’t matter since they’re both locked up and awesome.

I’m at the game tonight and Black looks awful. McCain, Philly’s 20-year-old rookie, looks significantly better and doesn’t have a season under his belt.

Black didn't have a good game against Philly, but he had a 4 minute stretch that helped swing the game.

We all saw the game, too. McCain looks like the clear rookie of the year if he keeps it up. I still want to see what he looks like after 20 games, and he isn't as fresh. Him and Black are the same age. Black could've been a rookie this season.

Black needs to focus harder on being aggressive at the offensive end. He has all the tools to do it. His ball handling and passing have improved.

Seeing it in person gives you a different perspective. In person it's easier to follow one player and get a feel for their court awareness (what they're doing and why). AB had one good flurry in the 3rd quarter that lasted about a minute and a half. Other than that he seemed lost and he just lacks fundamental basketball skills.
