Our backup center position is already solved. Diabate is pure energy and will out rebound anyone on the court.

Time to address the elephant in the room Mark/Richards. Either Mark has to get on the court or we might have to move on from both players. We already know Richards has value. Mark cmon man get on the court!

Miles Bridges said it's going to be hard for the Hornets not to play Moussa Diabate moving forward given his rebounding and hustle. Diabate was supposed to be a two-way player, but has been pressed into more action with Mark Williams and Nick Richards out.

Diabaté looks clearly a superior rebounder to Nick Richards, so if Moussa can learn to finish possessions on offense, what does Richards add?

Blown assignments on defense?

Painfully obvious we need to move Richards and Mark Williams for a starting center and Diabate can be the backup rebounder/defender off the bench.

Can't imagine them panic-selling Mark. They will slow-walk his development the same manner they've slow-walked his recovery from injuries.

Could use Nick as a piece for a stretch big to complement Mark & Diabaté. Some here may not yet know, but I really like Portis as a target. The Bucks could use Richards as a rim protector who can provide that when Lopez's contract expires at the end of the season.

Would love to swap Richards as a centerpiece of a package for Portis. They're only 2 years apart. One plays with edge and ferocity. The other gets pushed off his spots and boxed.

Richards + Micic for Portis + Delon Wright.

It works.

Now you preaching.

We gave Mark over a year to get healthy. It's clear we need to address the starting center spot. I'm finally at the point where I would put both Mark and Nic on the trade block and see if I could get a starter in return.

Remember people saying they wanted LaMelo traded because he couldn't play last season. Let's not get carried away now.

Who is going to give us a starter for them?

Is this right, we only get to offer him minimum salary?

Cut Taj or Jeffries and offer him a two year vet minimum salary. I doubt he rejects that.

ffs that whole ordeal with the Knicks is gonna cost us cheap years on him if he turns out to actually be a long term piece worth something. It ate up our room exception. I wasn't aware we wouldn't be allowed to offer him 3-4 years

Are we allowed to sign him into a trade exception? If so, kick Nick to the curb, to any team that'll trade a 2nd and use that money on Diabate

100% better than Nick. I don't see an argument. I just don't. I'm sure there's someone here.

I think we are probably jumping the gun a bit here. I am a big fan of Diabate and I think he is a very good backup, but trading Mark or Richards puts us right back in the realm of needing depth as soon as one guy is hurt again.

If by the end of the year we feel great about Mark, Nick and Diabate then that is when I might consider a trade but I would just focus on getting everyone healthy before making a move.

Also, I doubt trading Mark or Richards while they are hurt is netting us much back in a trade anyways.
