Re: PG: KNICKS vs new jersey nets - Even Tony Brothers Can't Stop Us!!!
I want to give Jalen a lot of credit for tonight. I’ve been quite critical in terms of his single minded approach. Him moving the ball quickly and not getting into funky spots unlocked so much of tonight’s offense. Everyone was involved and the ball was zipping around. The fact that his shot wasn’t falling didn’t stop him from making a big impact.
Man KAT is a warrior. He’s been fouled more often than is whistled and whistled for every little foul he creates. But what he’s doing is so impressive. I would be surprised if anyone on this forum is not super impressed right now. In my opinion, our best player so far this season.
With Josh playing like Draymond and OG our version of Kawhi, we can go deep. Obviously, as everyone has mentioned, the real difficulty right now is the minutes.
Brooklyn were pretty good tonight and they’re much better defensively than plenty of teams.
This win for me showed some nice progress, albeit with lots to work on still.

We're definitely up there in the East right now.
Cavs: Yes we owned them in the playoffs 2 years ago, but as they showed us earlier this season, they're out for blood. 15-0 for a reason. They have their 4 allstars (Mitchell, Garland, Mobley, Allen) capped at 30-31 mpg. They have a more trustworthy bench than the Knicks right now. Kenny Atkinson is 57 years old, 9 years younger than Tom Thibodeau. A lot of people here wanted him as Knicks coach dating back to the D'Antoni years, but Mike Woodson got the job instead. Atkinson got screwed over in Brooklyn and had to go back to proving himself as an assistant even though he was head coaching material. He is likely going to be COY and he might never be an assistant coach again. They're a very interesting story to me. Maybe they're just this year's Minnesota.
Celtics: Defending champs spamming 3pt attempts this season. Will they keep it up for the season? Are we going to develop a strategy to slow them down? Can we beat them at their own game? Porzingis comes back for them in December.
Magic: Banchero is out but they're still winning. Is Franz Wagner a superstar? On paper they seem like they should be a losing team, but they win. How do they win?
Rest of the East is below .500 so I don't know what to make of any of them.

Good post.
Agreed re Cleveland. Remember when Atkinson was getting pretty damn good play out of his no name Nets squad? He’s clearly a bit of a wizard. Massive win streak and the league is on notice.
Ultimately Boston are still the team to beat imo. They can cruise along without a care in the world knowing they can turn the screws quickly and easily.
I actually thought coming into the season that Orlando would continue to trend upwards. Hopefully for their sake Banchero comes back strong (after the game against us).
Thibs needs to get his trusting process expedited quickly or otherwise we’ll have no healthy guys.

Watched the game already knowing the outcome and the officiating STILL annoyed the sh*t out of me.

After the Celtics let Udoka go, I was desperate to get him here.....but nope ..there he is, having the Rockets looking like world-beaters.
Knicks need a fresh, fearless, articulate, and innovative mind to lead this talented group to the promised land.

46 minutes for Hart
45 minutes for Mikal
40 minutes for OG
The center(s) coming back does not help the minutes loads for the wings, Deuce coming back isn't going to stop this coach from playing these guys nearly 40 mpg. This needs to be addressed by the front office either talking to him or trading for another wing that he'll actually play. All the minutes caught up to us in May last year and it's going to happen again if this isn't stopped.
Achiuwa should move Hart to the bench. A sane coach would do that.

Indeed. You've noticed, of course, that no Knicks players have called for eliminating the position of coach, or said they should run the team themselves. And none are involved in a bizarre way with ownership. I think Marks, for all of his acumen in seeing talent, has been very poor in admistering their team. Coupled with the bizarre ownership of Genocide Joe Tsai and Crazy Clara, dumpster fire just begins to describe them.
Refreshing to see the team growing together, building an identity, and improving as (not that much) time goes on! The mere fact that we haven't drafted Son of Knox or an Obi clone is also so cheering. Lots to love while we recognize what still needs improvement.

This might be wishful thinking, but I saw Mikal do a much better job of getting thin around screens and maintaining pressure on the ball handler. Wonder if that defensive mindset is coming back to him?

I wanted Atkinson for coach each and every time we were hiring, but of course, all to no avail. Contrast his performance everywhere with how he was exiled by the DFT (Dumpster Fire Team).

Full court press and double teamed most of the game. Had an off night shooting. but, adjusted and made double digit assists(1 turnover) with 5 rebounds and a steal or two.
Looks like his ankle is still bothering him as well. Didn't have that herky jerky stop and pivot on a dime working. Teams have been geared to stopping him all season.
This game was more about poor shooting, but in general, limiting Brunson’s usage rate benefits us short term and long term.
On another note, OG Anunoby has been fantastic this year.
