I can see him moving up further next Season, as well.

He's the big you want out there when you need to battle on the boards. Which is why it kills me when they take the early, no ball rotation 3's when he's out there. He made at least 3 awful decisions defensively in the 4th quarter against the Bucks. He also accounted well for himself defending in space when he was better locked in mentally. I will keep saying, he needs to get a few post touches when he's out there and use his passing out of those spots.

Finally, I'm going to be a pain about him shooting a perimeter shot, particularly in blow outs. Rob Williams drilled a corner 3 the other night and I felt heartache once again  . That should have happened here. But on Queta, I think his ceiling is higher if he can hit 3's to eat. I'd still prefer he be pass happy in the post before going up for anything but a dunk.

We have a rebounding problem. In the absence of KP, Queta seems to be the only solution in this roster. I think he should start, Al should sit.

We could have acquired Drummond. Not a big fan of the guy, but Sixers got him cheap. He’s a big guy you can throw at Embiid, Jokic, Giannis etc. and he is a board specialist.

Drummond signed with Philly for 2 years, $10M. Boston only had vet min available. It looks like the vet min for this year for 10+ year pros is $3.3M per. That's quite a gap, right? I'd rather get the guy with upside and the ability to hit FTs anyway.

Sure, Andre has an advantage on reb%, but most advanced stats have Queta off to a better start this season:

Queta might not have Timelord's feel for the game on offense and defensive instincts, but I'm at least not worried his knees will fall apart before our eyes every time he's involved in the play.

Apart from our bigs turning Poeltl into Jokic and allowing 76 paint points, I think they did a good job overall lol. Not sure how much of that damage was on Q but he did his part of not being able to stop Jakob Jassacre last night.

Here's Barrett in the second quarter signaling that Queta was too small. Apparently Neemias grew a few inches in time to make that game winning block.

That's why I'm not a fan of that too small gesture.

Kyrie did that a lot when he was a Celtic.

I thought it was funny when JB did it to Tatum at the All star game.

Queta was credited for the block but I'd also give props to Jaylen for staying in front of Barrett and not giving him an easy lane to the hoop until Q came in to help from the blind corner.

In this particular play, Q was assigned to the far corner while everyone else switches with Tatum ending up on Poeltl. I think we could've helped a bit on Poeltl, forced him to be more of a passer esp in the 2nd half. Raps had a couple of non-shooters on their rotation Cs could've cheated off of.

Live I thought JB got the block even. Definitely was Queta on the replay, but great defensive play by both of them.

Huh, definitely don't remember that. Thought it became a thing after he left us -- JB is the only C I can remember doing it

Kyrie did it a lot in his first year with the Cs.

I really like the improvement from Queta.

Also, respect to Joe for the way he has been running this team this year. I really like that we are running unusual to us lineups, and giving guys like Neemias lots of burn. It might mean we wont win 70 games, but in the long run it is FAR better for the team.

There were quite a few of us last season who were asking to convert Queta to a standard deal and start feeding him minutes then. I wonder how far along he’d be now or if another half year in the G league was more beneficial.

We all will be asking the same question when Lonnie Walker IV is in Boston mid-season.

Agreed. IMO, Joe's playing the long game this season. Keep bringing Neems along while KP is out and that will pay off for the playoff push. This team can win on the road so as much as going for a crazy win record is fun to watch, it has zero importance on the bigger picture.

Playing the long game for beyond the season too. We have very limited options in improving the roster. Developing a guy like Queta now can help this season and the next 3 as we might have to trim some salary in the not so distant future. Way better to have 2024 and beyond Queta step in instead of waiting until then to start the development journey with no idea how it’ll go.

IMHO:

Big man rotation once healthy:
Starters: Porzingis and Tatum
Tatum will play most of his minutes at the 4 in every game.

2nd team: Queta and Horford
These two seem to play off each other well. I feel that Queta has taken over the minutes from Kornet. I think this should be the only time we run the double big lineup unless matchups require it.

3rd team: Kornet and Tillman
Both guys have Joe's confidence but mainly their minutes will come during back-to-back or rest games.

All except Horford and Kornet are signed for the next couple years. Horford will have a contract as long as he wants one here. Kornet is more than the break in case of emergency guy. He knows the system better than Queta, but he just isn't as athletic or strong enough.
