Re: 2024-25 NBA Rookie Discussion Thread
I get why Knecht wasn't a top ten pick, but no way he should have fallen all the way to 17. It was stupid then and it looks even worse now. Like, literally no way Buzelis should have been taken over Knecht, other than he's younger.

Very solid starting role player in the making, don't see Star as of yet, could happen but doubtful. He players vastly better IMO then Pat Williams when we first had Pat.

Re: What's Your Thoughts On: Matas Buzelis
He’s another fart in the wind that us Bulls fans will falsely get excited about.
But hey, he can’t be more of a let down than Pat Williams, our prime Kawhi Leonard!
We are still feeding off of negative karma from the dominance in the 90s. I don’t know when it’ll end.
The Bulls logo is almost not iconic anymore, and that’s crazy to think about.

Could be wrong and hope he does develop more but I just don't see it, he'll be a solid player for 8-10ish years but All-Star? not a chance. Solid Starter - maybe, i'd even say very likely
(I see a McDermott trajectory, or other NCAA seniors that had solid careers Napier, Dwight Powell, Joe Harris, etc)
Lol, what are these comps? McDermott averaged 3 points at 23 years old. Knecht's better now than any year of McDermott's career. Joe Harris didn't reach Dalton's current production until his age 26 season, and even if you didn't know that, you could see they're entirely two different players when you watch them. Knecht can actually threaten the rim and score in the midrange.
Well you obviously failed to read as i compared their career outlooks, not their skill set or even their statistical output. Rather that I think Dalton will have a solid 7-10 year career, never really being "great" but never being "bad" either.
On what basis? I compared Knecht to your list of players which you're now saying isn't based on skillset similarity or statistical similarity. So you just think Dalton will have a 7 year career because he's an NCAA senior? By that same token, I think he's going to be an all-time great like other NCAA seniors Tim Duncan and Kareem. See how that argument doesn't work?

The Bulls are one of the most exciting young teams this year. They've been solid. It's a young team that needs more than 14 games to gel.

Thats why.
Still a solid pick at 17, but no bad team will touch him because they’d rather gamble on someone who doesn’t max out as a role player.
Some teams will regret taking a younger player who never reaches his potential. Many people said this draft is weak, which is why I think he shouldve gone higher

Right now the Bulls are in 9th place in the east. At best they'll be a play-in team. Not very exciting, epecially when you consider the past few seasons.

Very few hits. If you're going to be a star, you will show it in college within your first 2 seasons
That's funny, I was reading that list and thinking that that's a good hit rate considering no 1st overall.

It doesn't matter what their rankings are. They're an exciting team because of the new look. Before with Derozan, they played more of a half court set, and now, they are a run and gun team. Voosh is playing at an all star level; Coby and Ayo are exciting young studs; Zach is regaining his shooting touch; and while Giddey is struggling, he is a big reason why this offense works. This team is a creeper. When the 3s are going in and Zach gets it going, they can creep up on any top seed and surprise them. It's fun to watch because they are so unpredictable.

Nobody on the current team projects to be an all-star. I wouldn't say Coby or Ayo are "exciting young studs", but they are good players.
Giddey has been benched during crunch time due to poor defense. Maybe he improves, but that's not a good sign.
The Bulls are a team with no franchise player good enough to built around (or with) and might not be able to keep their 2025 pick.
I say all this and a lot can change in a year.

Giddey will improve. The guy is only getting used to his new surroundings. He'll figure it out.
Trust me, he's from OKC. We know what we're doing over here.

Reed Sheppard looked horrible last night. Absolutely lost. Sometimes the box score plus minus doesn't tell the tale but his -7 in 5 minutes did against the Bucks. If Holiday gets those minutes the Rockets win.
He can't improve unless he gets non-garbage time run but Udoka can't give him meaningful court time if he continues to be such a big negative.

Update on Castle, since becoming a starter after Sochan broke his thumb (7 games):
13.7pts/4.0ast/2.6reb/1.1stl in 29mpg on 45/38/76 shooting splits
Kid is getting better and better with each game. Shooting is steadily improving after an abysmal start

That's pretty nuts. Definitely don't think it's sustainable but if it is he is going to run away with ROY. A bright spot for Philly fans this season

The flip side of the coin are guys who could have been great in the pros if they had not left college after one season. But those serious hypotheticals.

So? This thread was made before the season started. He was the 17th pick and there are a limited number of poll options...
