Jared McCain is breaking barriers, bringing feminine culture into the NBA?

Post#1 » by OkcSinceSGA » Tue Nov 19, 2024 6:34 pm

He seems to be an incredible young talent. Let's get this part out of the way. He may straight up steal rookie of the year and has been dominating. So great job there by the Sixers finding a gem. Now on the other side of things he's a little.... interesting off the court. The feminine dance videos on Tiktok, painting his nails and overall vibes. Is he going to bring a more woman's type of touch to such a masculine league? So far teams around the league seem to respect him, so I don't see any hatred etc. Which tells me some guys may be open to this culture shift.

Maybe it will help calm fights down, overall aggression of the league having a feminine star in the mold of Steph Curry? I sense a shift in the league coming.

PS. Many think he's actually gay, and if he did come out a gay, flamboyant superstar it would add an interesting dynamic to the league. He would be the first outward, star level one. Guys like Jason Collins is wasn't known until close to retirement, and they weren't stars.

Also, something that might surprise people. I think when it comes to athleticism, agility, physical attributes and skill I rate LeBron only in the top 50.

Doesn't Jalen Green still paint his nails?

So did Dennis Rodman and others. With McCain it's a combination of things that make it different.

Dennis Rodman already broke whatever barrier there was to break

Live and let live as long as it's not thieving and stealing...except on the court

He’d surely have a Boondocks segment if the show was still around

A lot of people care. The stupid hate Caleb Williams gets for a similar vibe is pathetic. As a 44 year old, it's different to me, but this is how the young TikTok look at me generation is. Everyone is starved for attention.

Seems cringey and attention-craving to me.

I love Rodman... but what he did was shock value and attention seeking. I think it's a bit different here because by all accounts McCain is being himself, and loving life. It doesn't feel like an act to get attention and controversy like Rodman.

There is still some casual homophobia that happens in the NBA circle but overall it's 2024 and we're in a much more accepting state as a society. If he is, or isn't, will matter little if he's good at basketball. He can carve out his own narrative, especially given how open he is with tiktok and his YT blog.

Btw D-Wade was the first star to openly paint his toes. Black, white, French tips and all

Does anyone really care? He's gonna do what he's gonna do. He doesn't look any better or worse than Russell Westbrook and his... unique approach to fashion.

Be good at basketball, and your personal choices will be wholly unremarkable. And it's 2024... most people care far less about patterns of dress or who you're sleeping with or whatever at this point.

Is it the offseason already?

Are we in highschool?

What was the point of this dumb thread?
