Maxey is right but he clearly leaked this info to Shams due to Klutch ties.

That’s bad.

He plays like the MVP when he's trying to win the MVP. He plays like the MVP when he's trying to win a gold medal. Both of those are individual goals. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that team goals occupy such a prominent place in his mind.

I don't seeing how winning a gold medal is any more of an individual goal that winning a championship, but he certainly didn't play like an MVP during those games (except for the one)

Since the last injury he didnt play like an MVP. Maybe the problem is this.

It could be either. Not everybody has a gold medal -- it's quite distinctive, just like the MVP. Regardless, the important point is that Sixers' team goals don't seem to inspire him, and that's obviously highly problematic.

Dear Embiid,

....again to win awards you generally have to win games.

All he has left is playoff success...which requires you to win games lol. Like one conference finals run alone would probably solidify him and stop all of the narratives. So if he is as selfish as you claim...wouldn't that inspire him?

i don't think this angle works in this context

I'm hoping the Big Fella responds in a positive way and we can look back on this as a catalyst of our turnaround.

Even if it is Nurse, leaking locker room dialogue is terrible and is something that is supposed to never happen. It’s really an unwritten rule in locker rooms.

Happens all the time nowadays

this feels like a controlled leak tho. To put some pressure on Biid and Nurse if nothing else.

When was there a leak like this coming from an NBA locker room?

It’s clearly a controlled leak but there has to be some sort of trust in that locker room and stuff like this is bad.

I think the most likely outcome is not much changes. It doesn't get worse, it doesn't get better. Too much is wrong right now. Too many depth guys suck, Embiid has some mental block where he's afraid to try to do anything on the court, Paul George looks like a player his age typically looks... not terrible, but not what he used to be.

Shams wants to be the new godfather, so he called in a favor from Maxey.

I am sure Shams' doors to executives/teams was inherited from WOJ via ESPN. He's the main show in that industry now.

It’s kind of disgraceful if you think about it, he has a monopoly on the whole thing now.

I think the unfortunate thing is that leadership (Morey & ownership) set the tone with this missed back to back ramp up after the start of the season, lie about swelling bullish then sit out Maxey and George when they could've likely played much sooner.

I know it's still early in the year. Not even December, but I didn't like George not starting the yearthose messages are loud and clear. We're all about the postseason, we'll out talent the league. Joel especially clearly has a mentality of taking a step back and letting other take the load. Well it's definitely your job to defend and rebound. Establish yourself then embrace your teammates.

Now I fear he's going to try too hard and do stupid stuff that gets him hurt

Truly... He was the most plugged in with the players side with klutch, WOJ was easily the man that teams go to.
