Tyrese Maxey Challenged Joel Embiid During Post-Game Meeting

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Nov 19, 2024 5:41 pm

Tyrese Maxey challenged Joel Embiid after the Philadelphia 76ers' loss to the Miami Heat on Monday, reports Shams Charania.

Maxey called out Embiid about being late "for everything" and how it impacts the locker room. Maxey and Embiid have a close friendship and have a history of holding each other accountable.

"Tyrese loves Big Fella, but this is the elephant in the room," a person involved in the meeting told ESPN.

Embiid accepted the message sent by Maxey, but said he is sometimes confused by what the Sixers are trying to execute on the court.

Players also told Nick Nurse they want to be coached harder. Coaches said they want players to practice with purpose and attention to detail.

This is what happens when you draft a player to a team trying to lose; a team with no vets and no work ethic. No you have a team who's best player and leader has no work ethic.... it was a flawed "Process" from the start.

Joel's problems are Joel's problems.

The Process as a whole is the right concept, even though Hinkie probably took it too far and refused to care about optics.

Thankfully not. That would be a tough decade to live through. I'm an NBA fan and it's been hard enough to watch from a distance.

You could choose not to watch, especially since you aren't even a fan?

He just said he’s a NBA fan. Makes sense that he would have an opinion on a NBA story. What a strange comment.

The "coached harder" line is an interesting situation because as soon as the players are unhappy about getting what they asked for then it's right back to everything being the coach's fault.
Once they have that golden shining moment and it comes to them in a dream or whatever and they understand that, that's when this team and this franchise will go to another level from where it was when I was here.

It's kind of concerning that a young player has to "challenge" a 30yo to get his sh.t together.

They're not saying they need to coached harder as individuals, they're pointing the finger at Nurse for not holding Embiid accountable.

He also didn't care about actual draft evaluations.

good luck if you think Nurse will call out Embiid. Dude doesn't hold any of his stars accountable just ask Raptors fans

Watching teams play for lottery balls when it impacts the opposing teams playoff seeding is disgraceful. I understand it: The current lottery system rewards the team that loses the best. That doesn't make it good for the game.

HOU clearly did it better. Yes, they went full rebuild, but they immediately developed their picks, brought in a good coach and overpaid for quality veteran leadership.

The best possible outcome for the NBA is for PHI's multi-year suckfest to fail.

If you're a fan of "the eague", then you could focus on the teams and players you like instead of the ones you don't? That's what's strange. The constant need for schadenfraude in life by so many people.

I didn't say that I don't like PHI. I wish them no ill will as a franchise. But if "the Process" lead to a multi championship dynasty it would inevitably lead to a generation of copycats. I can think of nothing worse for the league.

What do you mean? He’d call his players out all the time. Gary Trent, Chris Boucher, Norm Powell, Malachi Flynn and Scottie Barnes off the top of my head were all guys who’d get publicly criticized. Usually they deserved it, but not always.

Barnes doesn’t count?
