This trade is meh, even paired down to
Ayton
for
Martin, Micic,Green

What is the gain for POR here?
Save $5.5mil on the deal now but have to add $14.7 (Green) in 26/27? All for what, a few 2nd round picks?

I think this only works if POR could re-route any of the CHA players for some type of draft capital as part of this deal

As for POR waiving players, any one of Reath\Banton\Walker could go they are all equally marginal NBA players

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

We complain about this every day on our Hornets discord server. Passing up Clingan because you have Mark Williams and Nick Richards :banghead:

I know how you feel. Williams seems promising but seems to struggle staying healthy.

Hopefully CHA can land a difference maker in the draft this year.

I actually can find appeal in Josh Green if PDX has a follow up deal to move Thybulle.

Start w/ cutting Walker.

MT + Reath for 1 expiring and 1-2 SRP.

Then something like -

PDX - Ayton for Green + Micic + 3 CHA SRP
CHA - Green + Martin + Micic + 3 CHA SRP for Ayton
DET - Reed for Martin

Then move Simons for whatever. (Expiring's and some SRP or a swap) - maybe something like Russell + Vincent + LP swap + higher of 25 SRP.

G - Scoot Henderson / Dalano Banton
G - Shadeon Sharpe / Josh Green
G - Jerami Grant / Deni Avdija / Rayan Rupert
G - Toumari Camara / Deni Avdija / Kris Murray
C - Donovan Clingan / Robert Williams III / Paul Reed

Much better roster balance of youth and a few vets for a rebuild team.

I don't think this will turn out to be quite as bad as passing up CP3 because you have Sebastian Telfair.... :nonono:

Mark Williams and Nick Richards back at practice. Moussa Diabate looking like modern Rodman as C3. Charlotte probably not too keen to use any value on Ayton, even SRPs. They've weathered the storm, for better or worse. for now, at least
