2025 NBA All-Star Game To Have Two Semifinals Played To 40 Points, Final Game To 25

The NBA will experiment with a new four-team tournament-style All-Star Game in 2025.

There will be two semifinal games up to 40 points with the winning teams advancing to a final game played to 25 points.

The league is hoping the quick-burst competition and pickup ball style will inject a more competitive and watchable All-Star Game. Each of the past two All-Star Games have been widely criticized for a lack of competitiveness. 

The 2025 NBA All-Star Game will be held in San Francisco at Chase Center, home of Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

The All Star Game obviously has been terrible for years but this really feels like the final nail in the coffin.

Makes me pretty sad, it was a huge part of my childhood. No doubt infused by nostalgia but we had little access to full NBA games so the ASG was our chance to see all the stars play together in a somewhat competitive game.

25 points seems ridiculous.. I mean the game will be over in 10minutes or less at least keep it first to 40.. Well trying new things is fine I still don't see players trying in these games their had to be something of benefit because all the media says is the only important thing is winning a championship. The only way to make the all star game competitive is make it verse a European or other world team or ask for volunteers who will take the game seriously if KD or whoever doesn't want to play full on then kool don't come..

If someone gets hot from beyond the 3 point line it very well could be over in 5 minutes of play time.

Maybe the fact it’s shorter might get the players to buy in a little more in terms of effort, but indeed it’s getting worse and worse.

The all star game was so great before, iconic with each player wearing their team jersey and so forth. It’s become such a joke sadly and this doesn’t make it look any better.

Omg this line of thinking is so boring and ancient. It's one more game than 82 they have to play. Get over it. Nobody's buying this excuse anymore
