Two very nice Mormon Elders approached me to enter their temple. I've always thought the name of this team - Jazz - was a bit to racy for Salt Lake City, so I asked them about The Jazz. One said to me, "We don't like to talk about that."

I always found it super weird that they never changed the name. The words "Utah" and Jazz are like oil and water.

I used to "briefly date" a gal who went to Bringham Young years ago. The pictures she showed me of Salt Lake City were gorgeous. I have zero interest in ever visiting Utah but man. Beautiful scenery.

THey are so weird, and every time I walk past their temple here in Jamaica (it's a little storefront) I imagine songs from "The Book of Mormon" as I go. It's clear to me that some of these nice young men dressed in white shirts and ties are very anxious being in the heart of Jamaica. They just aren't used to associating not only with people of color but also with people of other religions. They are so timid and fearful, but they like to approach me probably because I'm an older white guy and I don't look threatening. I bite my tongue and politely turn them down. But they are my nightmare - I live here because I love how vibrant and alive Jamaica is, and I'd wither away and die in Salt Lake City. They're probably the people I'm most uncomfortable with, but I hope maybe some of their eyes will be opened to the possibility of something more. Or maybe not.

They have a bigger temple in a converted big house right outside Jamaica Estates

I walk down there, but don't recall seeing it. I'll have to pay more attention next time. But that's not really downtown Jamaica, so maybe they feel more at ease. Their behavior always seems like the SNL version of someone who is too earnest.

Prior to Charlotte getting their name back, I saw a post from someone suggesting that Charlotte, New Orleans and Utah make a three-way swap so as the teams ending up as Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Jazz and Utah Bobcats. I think that would have made sense.

It makes a ton of sense. Utah probably could use a rebrand. Their whole vibe is just meh

Salt Lake City Skyline would make more sense :dontknow: Everything about their branding is related to the mountains.

Worst to First - great ideas on NO getting the Jazz back, though I am in the minority who loves the Pelicans name. Pelicans are awesome.
