Yeah, I would probably pass because I am not even sure what I would want him to do next year with the 52 million PO. I suppose him opt in is the best option at that point if we are trading stuff for him. Him opting out and leaving after 1 year would be a tough pill to swallow but I also wouldn't really want any part of extending him for 3 more years either.

If we somehow were in the playoff mix in Feb time frame I would maybe consider trading Miles, filler and first for him but that also might be way too short sighted and it would make things super complicated moving forward.

It's just not a good fit. If we're going to invest this much in a player, it should be one we can extend and keep at least.

The league has a glut of old guys making ridiculous money - for chrissakes, Beal will make $57mm in 26/27, and Paul George has a player option in 27/28 for $56mm when he he'll be 37 and broken to bits. I wouldn't touch any of these guys. The cost to value is all sorts of f'ed.

i'll take them, for a boatload of picks on the front end, and then some more on the back end to whatever desperate team thinks theyll push them over the top. like how OKC did with Paul

I hope Jeff is working on some trade targets to actually improve this team in the near future. I just can't get excited about another tank. It's been two straight tank seasons and the possibility of getting a high enough pick to where the front office can make the right decision because it's obvious + have that player work out despite being put on a roster run by 23 year olds just doesn't give me confidence.

Ironically, this is the type of roster that MJ should've been making the types of moves he made prematurely on the Bobcats or signing a big free agent. You have a young bunch of players with skill to build around but lack depth, strength, defensive stoppers and vets.

Yeah, trading for an old player who's making 40+ million would be like having Gordon all over again.

Obviously a lot can change in the next 60 days, but with us owning extra draft capital I wouldn't mind taking a small chance on one of these older guys and making a playoff push if we think we can be feisty in the playoffs. Even if it just meant we had them for a 1 or 2 years it might be the extra push we need to get over the hump and start winning.

Of course it makes the most sense to wait until we further along before doing a move like that but you also can grow old waiting on the perfect opportunity.

I know the blood clot thing is scary but based on Detroit having new management and taking Holland I wonder if Ausar is someone that could be available moving forward.

Top 5% athlete, could be an elite perimeter defender still, has some playmaking abilities. Can guard 1-4.

Amen seems to be figuring it out.

What seemed like a pipedream may be more realistic a few months from now.

Paul George

If Philly hasn't turned it around they could blow it up before the trade deadline. Now I know Paul George isn't the missing piece, but on this team he could definitely make us a playoff team. We need that vet in the locker room who can still play and have the players respect.

Can we turn Bridges+ fillers for PG before the trade deadline?

Melo
Miller
PG
Grant
Mark

PG is my favorite player so if we somehow traded for him I would probably lose it not gonna lie.

I would lose it as well. I'd probably burn my home down in depression.

If Melo/Miller keep playing like this just go get a DAWG like Jimmy Butler.

Divincenzo
Cam Johnson
Brandon Ingram

I feel like these are realistic possibilities we could acquire to give us an extra push.

If they're making a move, it needs to be for a difference maker big.

a Miles/Mark/picks for Markennan or Siakam type of deal.

If the Hornets miss the playoffs this year, there are 6 NBA teams with more first round picks then us. I think there is some assumption out there that we have no picks and would have to include all of young players to make any deal.

Also, need to see what the news is with Grant, but this is probably while making a trade 4 weeks into the season isn't a good idea. Most of us would have traded for a center 2 weeks ago, now we have Richards, Mark and Diabate all close to being healthy. Meanwhile both our best PFs are probably about to miss the next 5+ games minimum.

Markennan is not really a difference maker imo.

He's the best player for one of the worst teams in basketball. Real impact players are winning more games. Jazz haven't been to the playoffs since they traded for Markennan.

Also dealing with Ainge scares me. He would rob us of all our picks lol
