I'm all on board with Sexton. I think he adds a new dynamic as a hound at the guard position.

DDV also seems like a decent option, but Minnesota would want a rotation player in return.

Personally prefer Simons but either that idea of Adams+Tate+1st or just Adams+1st for Sexton would both be great for the rockets imo

Adams + Tate + Pick for Simons + Walker or Reath?
Then hopefully PDX could move DA for literally anything.

If you can get Sexton, him. If not, please take Simons. Sending Portland a convoluted first would be a gift.

I don't think Portland would move Ayton for contracts that expire later than his, attached to equally unwanted players, but short of that, it's hard to imagine a trade I'd refuse.

My quasi realistic hope is straight up for CJ. With this Simons deal you’re adding CJ and Adams to a young locker room and I can’t think of 2 better vets to help the kids along.
Adams plays C3 and fills in when RWIII misses B2B or gets hurt, CJ takes the 6th man role off the bench.

I don't love Simons for Houston, but the Ayton for CJ trade makes some sense. The Pelicans really don't need McCollum and are one of the few teams that could use Ayton eating up minutes at center. Hard agree that Adams and CJ would be big improvements in professionalism and leadership for this listless franchise.

Ya Simons, Green and FVV is pretty tiny. There is a fit w/ Simons next to Thompson but the others are just not really cutting it IMO.
Maybe something like Simons to ORL, KCP to HOU, Adams + filler + pick to PDX.

Re: Best shooting guard for expiring and Houston's convoluted 25 pick
No, Houston needs shot creation not more defense, KCP would not help them much, they're already an elite defensive team, they need half court shot creation bad. Simons is not significantly worse than Jalen on defense, they wouldn't be playing those three together much if ever. This is about forcing Jalen to step up or get replaced. Simons would be perfect because he can handle the ball with Fred on the bench and be a pure scorer when he's onBlazersBroncos wrote:Tim Lehrbach wrote:BlazersBroncos wrote:

Their biggest need is what Jalen is supposed to do well

Get that. Ya that sounds like Simons - especially if your playing him next to Thompson. Adams + Tate + that weird FRP for Simons + Walker or Reath.

Re: Best shooting guard for expiring and Houston's convoluted 25 pick
Works for me, think Reath is probably preferable to have a third center on roster, have a few wings on standby still, but not a huge deal to me either way tbhBlazersBroncos wrote:K_chile22 wrote:No, Houston needs shot creation not more defense, KCP would not help them much, they're already an elite defensive team, they need half court shot creation bad. Re: Best shooting guard for expiring and Houston's convoluted 25 pick
I want Brogdon. I think Ime would have very little interest in these small guards who can’t play D like Sexton/Simons.
Jeff, Tate, Holiday, 2025 Rockets LP 1st
For
Brogdon, Balwdwin, Gill, 2025 Wiz 2nd swap option
Insurance if Jalen keeps sucking this season, insurance if we part ways with Fred in the off-season.

Brogdan is a worse defender than sexton and I do not think its close

Since when? I remember watching him in Portland against us and he was very solid on D. Unless I’m being oblivious to Sexton being a great defender.
Size is also important here. Jalen, Fred and Sheppard are very small. Brogdon at 6’5 230 allows for more flexibility.
I know Brogdon is constantly battling injuries so I imagine his D varies a decent bit because of that.
On that note, him being injury prone is obviously a problem, but we have enough depth to make up for when he’s gone, and could use his skills enough for his usual 40-50 games a year to justify the cost.
