Agreed?
It's literally because of his flopping. He's 1st all time in FTA per 36 minutes and per 100 possessions.
He's the worst foul baiter in the history of the NBA and it's not close.
Drawing fouls is a skill, and a very important skill. He benefited by playing in an era where defensive players never get benefit of the doubt, but every player had to play with what they had, and Embiid used his circumstances to have all time great numbers.
The problem with Embiid is he is strictly a regular season player except he constantly misses games in the RS.
He is not able to maintain that level of play consistently without breaking down. His best RS he didn't even play 40 games. That less than half the season and then loss in the first round of the playoffs.
I rather have even Tatum in RS because he plays games despite being a lesser RS player. There's plenty of players I rather have in RS due to that. And then when we factor PS there its not good.

What stands out the most to me on that list is him getting passed in minutes played by a guy a full 5 years younger than him.

Embiid's barely played this year and neither of the other 'new updates' are new or worth remembering. You guys have to know this is just a retread of the lame sports talk 'I like winners with good attitudes, let's bond over repeating that and saying why X or Y guy isn't like that.'
Whatever happens Embiid's legacy will be determined by what happens by his injuries and on the court. He comes back healthy and good and all this is forgotten, he doesn't over the next couple years and this becomes one forgotten and irrelevant month in a longer story of decline with much bigger benchmarks. We've had nothing new to work with about his 'legacy' since the Knicks series and Olympics.
Dude, you're one of the most respectful Sixers fans here and I respect your opinion as a true fan who isn't just a superstar stan.
And yet, that last part - some of what we "experience" today with Embiid is related to the Olympics, where he went "ring-chasing" while eligibly being injured (or at least it's what his stans try to convince us saying he never really recovered from last season's injury).
So first, those Olympics are part of KD, Lebron and Curry's legacy - all the rest were bus riders, not drivers. Maybe Booker and Jrue can be credited with their great role player contribution, but that's it.
Second, participating in those Olympics obviously plays part in Embiid not being recovered from his injuries.
Third, injuries aside, apparently he arrived in the training camp being not in shape - you can be injured, but in shape (not game shape, ofc, but you got me). Luka arrives not in shape year in and year out and is rightfully (saying this as Luka fan) shamed for that - no reason for Embiid not to be called out here as well.
And for last, the recent locker room issues isn't something you see from majority of superstars in the league, and with Embiid's history it's not something you can say is a one-time issue or some media over-exaggeration/over-reaction.
I didn't say the Knicks and Olympics were positive (they lost to the Knicks and Embiid only had a couple moments in the Olympics), just that they were the last thing we had to talk about for Embiid's legacy, and that we already talked them to death. Starting another thread to say 'wow he looks really bad huh?' after he's sat on the bench with injuries for a month is obviously not about what Embiid's doing, it's just repeating insults when someone is looking bad and can safely be piled on.
This isn't just me as a Sixers fan defending Embiid or whatever, I always think it's a loser move when sports fans repeatedly have to declare themselves on the side of the winners and the good guys and differentiate themselves from the losers and the flawed. Embiid hasn't won a lot relative to expectations and he has things that are easy to knock (on court and off) so he's an easy guy to do the whole 'I'm not like this loser guy and I don't approve of him.'
This is kind of like opening up a thread today that's like 'man Kamala Harris has been looking pretty rough in the last couple weeks right?'--you know people are either going to rehash old post-election critiques about what the campaign did wrong or relish in her defeat again. If you need to do that, cool, but don't package it as 'breaking news--is Harris' career over because of the last two weeks?'

This x1000.
Gaudy RS numbers/performances but routinely shrivels in the playoffs with no real postseason success to his name despite being in the league for a decade. One of the strongest players in the NBA but is constantly on the floor rolling around like he got hit by a mack truck. Also made of glass and routinely injured when his team needs him most. Can't score at a high level without flopping for free throws which goes away in the playoffs. Big Man James Harden is his legacy

James Harden did almost pulled off the feat of defeating the prime GSW. However, there is no angle for Embiid that favors him, he has all-stars (Butler/Simmons/Maxey/George) and solid role players throughout his career whereas Harden had end of prime Howard and Paul.
I do agree that the foul baiting is distasteful, perhaps they were meant to stick together as teammates

He was a very good regular season player at times over parts of a number of seasons... But we've seen plenty of players like that come and go in the history of The Association.
This isn't fair to Embiid. I never enjoyed watching him play but he played at an extremely high level from 18-23. That 6 year stretch was better than a lot of guys in the NBA 75. Obviously given injuries he drops a ton but he was more than "very good" RS player.UcanUwill wrote:

Correct. I hate the NBA's current rulebook. But the owners and players decided to tailor the rulebook to juice scoring as much as possible. Embiid does the right thing falling down all the time into defenders. The only valid critique I see against is his body can't take all the falls so he should refrain from doing it.
But the sportsmanship critiques are stupid.
I will also just add that the Plus-Minus data puts Embiid in very rarified territory. Right up there with Chris Paul and Tim Duncan https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WMfP-GVHXCjPfp2sMnBjWB301OtO3LO7n-EKoBSl-iQ/edit?gid=0#gid=0

You know what? You convinced me (no green font).
I can only imagine what it's like to be a 76ers fan this season, and then reading all that stuff online. And it's my mistake to assume you mentioned the Olympics as a part of his (positive) legacy.
Peace!

in an era with no dominant teams it speaks loudly that his contemporaries took advantage and he didn't. Jokic, Giannis and Tatum grew from losing to the old guard. Embiid will forever be remembered losing to Kawhi Leonard a player who is just as injury plagued as him
The Greatest of All Time debate in basketball is essentially who has the greatest basketball resume of the player who has the best highlights instead of who is the best player

I’m not sure if Hussein Fatal is even an Embiid fan. I’m fairly certain he’s a massive troll who wants to make people hate Embiid with his awful takes. He only posts cherry-picked threads after Embiid has amazing regular season games and never defends him when he’s bad. There’s a good chance he’s never made a post on this board after the month of March
Eyeatoma is definitely a major Embiid stan but is pretty reasonable with his criticisms of Embiid he just looks at him thru rose colored glasses and always gives him the the fit of the doubt. I’m sure he’s just really bummed and upset and doesn’t have much to add
