GSW ~ BKN: Schroder for Kuminga/1st
Warriors get:
Dennis Schroder (13.02m)
Ziaire Williams (6.13m)
Nets get:
DeAnthony Melton (12.82m)
Jonathan Kuminga (7.63m)
Warriors 2026 1st, top 4 protected
Warriors get what they desperately need - a guy who can break down the defense, AND be able to weaponize the 3pt shooters around him while doing so. Kuminga can't do the latter, and Podz simply isn't a PG. Ziaire adds depth to the forward position to replace Kuminga
Nets get a 1st and a prospect for Schroeder. Kuminga represents a stark contrast to Cam Johnson's shooting. Melton is obviously just ballast. I went back and forth on which 1st to give, but I think the Nets would prefer one a year out rather than 2025, to try and capitalize on potential upside. Would also give the Warriors incentive to retain Schroder, which I think they should

Remove the 1st and I really like it for both

Why would the Nets do it without a pick?
Kuminga is an expiring & we have mountains of cap space in the off season to sign him then

So is Schroeder...
Schroeder is 31 y/o while Kuminga is 22
Schroeder FA whose max FA potential earning is lower than the MLE, Kuminga will command cap space (or S&T) and is RFA.

We can trade Denis for a pick at any time

Kuminga will also fetch a pick, and I'm certain it'll be higher than the pick Schroeder will bring...

And that’s fine but the Nets will demand a pick while the Warriors need a player
We don’t need Kuminga to tank for Flagg while the Warriors need Denis to compete this year & it really is that simple

I'm sorry, this is terrible. Schroeder is a journeyman role player while Kuminga is a high end prospect. Brooklyn should be throwing in multiple picks while Golden State keeps that pick.
Just awful.

By the looks of it, you need to ship out Schroeder to tank for Flagg...
I'd rather discuss valuations than perceived leverages, I have Kuminga as more valuable trade piece than Schroeder and the Ws will do the move because they need immediate help after Melton injury.

The Nets want draft assets or a young player under contract control
Kuminga represents neither
Get a 3rd team involved if that’s an issue

The Nets have four first rounders but one of them is likely to be either the Houston or Oklahoma pick which doesn't look like it will be anywhere near the lottery.
Instead of a second rounder or a player the Nets don't really need or want it might be better bait for a team to take this first round pick from the Nets and offer a more attractive first round pick (possibly in a future year) so the Nets get something they actually want.
Alternatively the Nets could be coughing up one or more of their second round picks with a first rounder coming back.
With so many picks under their control they might want to consolidate assets.

LOL!
Miami beat the Mavericks on Sunday. I guess they're trading us Kyrie for Rozier. And giving us a pick for the privilege...

Re: GSW ~ BKN: Schroder for Kuminga/1st
Ludicrous…Kuminga is on an entirely different level, value-wise. Kuminga will, at least, be an RFA. The hold up with him is he wants $30m…Schroeder is at the point in his roller coaster career that he’ll be praying for MLE…and I like Schroeder. BRK has no ability to keep him and he’s too good, individually, for a tanking team to keep around. Classic case of a decent player putting up big empty numbers on a terrible team. Having said that, Schroeder is talented enough that he COULD dial it back and contribute to a good team. But the idea of GSW ADDING A PICK to Kuminga?
I’d like Schroeder in ORL, leading second unit, making $14m per…that’s a much more realistic positioning at this point in his career. It’ll be real interesting to see who takes a swing on Kuminga. He’ll put up big numbers on a bad team, but I don’t think he’s as talented as young Andrew Wiggins, who took years to learn to play winning ball. Phenomenal physical tools…maybe worth a shot…but building around Kuminga & Cam Thomas sounds like Globetrotters.

Wait, do BKN fans actually think people are fooled by Schröder's early season numbers?
I'm sorry, I don't think GSW even trades Kuminga straight up for Schröder.
Great start for Denis, hope he keeps it up and BKN can fetch a pick at the deadline, but I dont believe the return is going to be nearly as high as OP seems to think it is.

Re: GSW ~ BKN: Schroder for Kuminga/1st
Even if GS takes Kuminga out of the deal (and Brooklyn keeps Zaire), top 4 protected seems high for Schroder. Maybe a lottery protected 1st that turns into seconds together with the expiring contract of Melton for matching and even then I'm calling around the league to make sure I can't get better than Schroder for that.

Remove the first and it’s closer…if anything value should be going to GSW. Kuminga is the best asset in the trade.

So Nets give up two starters for Kuminga and an expiring Melton with no picks while the Warriors are getting the best player in the deal?
Nets hang up the phone and block the number.
