Keep the vids coming Constable, that’s how I saw this. Thanks!
Finding more and more reason to like Pritch. Saw a few more videos over the offseason but I have too much in history to go through to find them.

Some of the posts on page 1 of this thread are pretty funny
I guess lots of C's fans were skeptical aboput Payton (myself included, at times).
Good for him for proving the doubters wrong.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

No one bats 100%. We all make mistakes and have wrong opinions. Except for Brad Stevens. He can do no wrong.

Not for nothing but the bottom 10 in that first round aren't too bad compared to the top 10. There's a few 100+mil guys in that bottom 10.

I was OK with Nesmith and PP when it happened. But my dream if we stayed put was something like RJ Hampton and one of Tyler Bey / Josh Green / Reggie Perry. So, I pretty much nailed that draft.
I did scream long and loud about getting Paul Reed, though. Which, you know, OK, but ultimately meh. My only true consolation is I really, really, really wanted to trade up for Hali or Vassell.

I was with you on draft night wanting to move up. Langford was the nightmare scenario. Shame we got basically nothing for moving off the number 1 overall pick to take Tatum

Yeah, Philly had a good roster in the 18/19 season so a good draft slot in 19' was probably not gonna happen.

The pick we got was via Memphis iirc. They had just moved Conley and were expected to be worse than they were. It was that or the Kings pick, which was the one year in a decade that the kings weren’t terrible. Pretty sure that turned into Nesmith though

Just admit you haven't watched him play if you think that. 40% 3PT shooter who can come in and run the 2nd unit. Really good backup PG, in the mold of Van Vleet off the bench. Solid pick.
He is NOT FVV. For one, FVV is built like a brick wall.
Two, FVV was and is a demonstrably better shooter. Look up their college shooting.
Three, Carsen Edwards was an AA guard too, look how that has turned out. So was Jalen Brunson and while I like Brunson he's nothing more than a 15 MPG bench guy in the NBA. And honestly, Edwards and Brunson were meaningfully better college players than Pritchard.
That last paragraph is hilarious with hindsight.
It's not even stupid -- Pritchard is indeed unlikely to ever surpass Brunson as an overall player.

For the record, I don't think anyone will really know how good PP can be unless he becomes a full time starter on another team. I still see a Mark Price with more flash waiting to come out of PP. but of course I have always been more optimistic about PP than Most.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Re: Welcome to Boston, Payton Pritchard!
I mentioned earlier in the thread I didn't have Pritchard on my watch list for that draft because I dislike the prototype (older, shorter, while a non-super athlete, shooter). What put him on my maybe list a couple weeks ahead of the draft was BCGM touting him and finding he had very deep 3 potential. Honestly the same glimmer of hope I had in reconciling the Carsen Edwards pick in my head.
The one aspect that concerned me at the time, beyond the defensive targeting risk, was his processing once he was in the paint. He has come a long way in awareness and creativity now at this level. His feistiness has been on display for anyone who was really watching. He's still averaging more than 1 offensive rebound per 36 even with his increased minutes. So far this year he's had an uptick in steals and seems to be defending with more active hands.
I'm curious what they do with him in 2026 offseason. I was pleasantly surprised ownership absorbed this level of cost for a few seasons and re-signed him. And the way he's trending, it's a pretty team favorable contract.

Try this that I started the day after Pritchard was drafted: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2019003

Good stuff, though the thread devolved at the end.
Curious if anyone would take Pritchard over Bane now? Also where does a Nesmith v. Pritchard debate go?

Yes, tempers flared a little at the end, but I think that was the general tone of the forum right after that draft.
What this look back shows is that maybe people weren't angry because Ainge didn't draft well but because he didn't draft their binkies.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Payton Pritchard!
After all the early 6MOY talk, who's gonna tell Pritchard that he's technically 7th man again with KP back?
Not it!

Reverse undo technicality: Last year Horford started more games than he came off the bench, and he'll do the same thing this year, making Pritchard a 6th man again.

Anybody take PP before the season at +9700 for 6MOY? If so, it's looking pretty good for you.
