Trade him at the deadline. I don't see a role for him as early as next season.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Re: Davion's stats
Bench point guard being asked to start.
I don't think Shead will be ready to be a full time backup next year. I'd try and sign him to a 2 year deal in the offseason to bridge the gap. Either until Shead is ready or if we draft someone in the 2025 or 2026 draft.

my guess is that davion will be a minimum contract player next year let alone be signed to multiple seasons. unless he shoots alot better after IQ returns.
if shead continues to hit 3s as the season progresses, then you roll the dice with him as your backup next year considering where we are in our development curve.

Re: Davion's stats
Davion is good for defense...I don't have any expectations from him when it comes to offense....he's still much better than anything I've seen from past scrubs like Mccaw, Mcdaniels, Flynn.

Re: Davion's stats
Hes great to fill a specific role, poa defense is very important and you need those guys...but he needs to offer more on the offensive end, his #s are very bad. I'm all for keeping him, he's clearly being asked to do more than he's capable of which shouldn't be held against him
Having a guy like him is good for the team, he'll bring out more effort from other players

Him starting so many games and doing absolutely nothing on offence is a big reason our record is so bad.

Depends on what the goal is next year, if it's another "let the chips fall" type of year, then just let him play backup whether he's ready or not. I'm not swayed for or against keeping him, I just don't think he's needed unless we're trying to win more than we lose, and I have a feeling that's not the goal next year.
If Shead is worth keeping around as a backup, might as well let him get to that sooner than later.

Props TZ!

I can't imagine them tanking another year. I think getting a top 5 pick and then using the Pacers / Our picks as depth is likely the plan.

Re: Davion's stats
He has stats? Lol. I like him but it is very odd he doesn’t do much on the stat sheet and he’s been given ample opportunity so far. That being said, I watch him and he looks like he belongs so I don’t get it. Don’t mind him as a third stringer though we already have Shead for that. Need a bit better backup point once we are serious.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I don't think I would consider it a tanking year next year, but rather the "Lets see what they can do" with the current core. Kinda like what the plan was last year before the injuries.
Davion wouldn't be a long term fit for that core, so he wouldn't really factor into that too much. I also don't think Davion vs Shead in the back up role is going to move the needle much in the wins column. If it's something comically small like 5-8mil/yr for 2 years, I guess sure go for it. But anything in the double digits seems like a waste of cap space. Davion is barely NBA calibre right now.

Props TZ!

You see us acquiring a superior backup PG by next season? How exactly outside of us drafting one?

Bingo.
This board needs a reality check on backups. Davion is a great defender and a bad offensive player - but that is what a backup is. IDK what people expect - we are not going to have 10 players who are plusses on both sides of the court.
26 years old, likely can be retained very cheap, and could be a guy you have in your system for 3-4 years after this. If you find something better or a guy like Shead takes a leap you move on. But until then, you don't just cut bait for no reason.

We finally have a bit of depth and people immediately want to bail on that depth!
Depth is a large reason why the last iteration of the team couldn't make the 2nd round.

He's really good defensively. I may be in the minority but I really like him. Perfect backup PG.

I think Mogbo can do everything Davion does and would help the team with more even as a POA defender.
