I probably said this earlier in this thread, but on the Charlotte broadcast of our game there Dell Curry remarked on Ochai's excellent shooting form. And of course, his defence is WAY better than ... Ell Curry.

So whatever slumps Ochai (like any 3-baller) goes through, he has the form to carry him through, and the defence to allow him to stay on the court regardless.

Even beyond his numbers, I love his attitude. I love that instead of pouting or getting defensive when Darko calls him out...he takes the feedback and then responds. Shows great maturity to be able to do that at his age.

Ochai's leap is insane. I'm absolutely loving it. He's going to be a core piece moving forward if this keeps up.

He's played himself into at minimum offer sheets for at least the MLE. I think this summer they really should offer like a 4 year extension for like $70 million; $17.5 million per year.

I think he's now better (more aggressive) than Patrick Williams that got slightly more at $18 million per year.

This trade was a mugging.

Masai continues to prove that he's the best talent evaluator in the NBA while Darko's ability to develop players has been impressive.

I never liked that P-Will deal. The guy has already had two ravaged by injuries. He hasn't shown much if any improvement since his rookie year. His efficiency is down for a 4th year in a row. All and all I think 18 mill for him is an overpay.

That said, back to Ochai. I think that salary is fair for Ochai provided he keeps it up. He's definitely a guy that should be in our long term plans.

I don't think it will drop much because he stays within his role as a 3+D player....and he takes a lot of high efficiency shots like open corner 3s.

considering that we dont have a break you down off the dribble player or a pnr guard/wing that can drive and kick (with IQ hurt), it's pretty cool that he can get so many looks from the corner. darko's offense, with our skill limitations at some positions, has really helped him.

One of the most important things in life is patience, practice it, preach it. Everyone wants things right away and often miss out because they aren't willing to see things through when there aren't immediate results

The NBA is the hardest league in the world, young players need time to figure it out

I think the biggest thing out of all this is Masai took on a player with no real trade value, and is now likely looked upon favourably across the league.

We just got a trade asset.

Hopefully all the guys who like to freak out everytime we make a trade can STFU now.

You know they won't.

You would hope that they would at least reflect on it, but of course that won't happen. They'll be right back after the next cold streak.

BTW - do you think you know who knows Suggs is shooting 32% from 3 this season? The king of sample size just keeps getting it wrong.

Good asset, but I would rather keep him as I think he is the perfect 2 next to a non-defender like IQ.

Between RJ/Dick we keep one as our 6th man, and use the other to go aggressively after a starting 3 man either next year or the year after.

RJ is the odd man out as Gradey's movement shooting is just too valuable for team offense.

Gradey's one of the few starters we have that actually has a positive on-off.

It likely cools off a bit, 46% from 3 is pretty unsustainable for like 99% of the NBA, but to his credit he has played great so far and a big part of that compared to last year, is playing within his strengths and not forcing it.

I still need a full season of it before I'm convinced, but so far he's proving me very wrong, and I'm happy to see it.

It's hard to predict the future, but if we can get him on an Aaron Wiggins/DeVincenzo 45M over 4 years type deal and he doesn't regress, he definitely becomes a nice trade asset.

It's possible that come the summer of 2026 (or 2026-27 deadline), Agbaji on the 2nd year of a nice deal, Barrett's expiring deal + 1st rounder will be basically equivalent to the Devincenzo and Randle + 1st deal that netted Karl Anthony Towns. A bit of Barrett continued development could get him to Randle territory and Agbaji as a 3+D type with slightly better man to man defence and transition scoring but lower volume 3pt shooting might equal DDV.

No idea who the Towns figure would be, but some star on a team that wants to cut costs and get some value for him. A SF I guess would be ideal.

Poeltl-2026
Barnes-Mogbo
TRADE-2025 1st
Dick-Walter
Quickley-MLE/Mitchell

type of lineup.

Cleveland maybe will be in cap trouble by then, but that would probably look more like Donovan Mitchell and Strus for Quickley, Agbaji, and say 2 firsts to Cleveland and Barrett and picks to a 3rd team with caps space with a first attached to eat his final year, and Cleveland saves about 25M and gets a replacement starting guard, a 3+D wing and some picks:

Poeltl- 2026 pick
Barnes- Mogbo
2025 pick - Bruce Brown
Dick- Walter
Donovan Mitchell- ???

would be a fun team if the 2025 pick hits.
Where's the D?

Needs an entire season to prove you wrong, but you managed to form a really **** opinion in two weeks from the hop. At least you added "very", since you started by calling him a waste right after the trade.

So you're saying there's still a chance with Bruno Caboclo?
