You want a 40yr old Taj Gibson taking shots that currently his starting center.

How about Josh Green? Yeah who he plays for.

Oh wait can I interest you in Cody Martin? Yeah never heard of em huh?

If that's not good enough what about Moussa Diabate who can't catch a cold.

Cmon bro he has to chuck when he has nobody outside of Miller who can score a basketball. Talk to me when he has a healthy roster and not missing our 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th starting and rotation pieces.

That's what we going through right now my man.
It's not like that man. These are pro ball players. Basketball is a team game.

You just don't get it.

Harden won a MVP playing like this. Just saying.

Hardens team won 65 games that year.

How many seasons will it take the Hornets to win 65?

His defense has actually been reasonable this year aside from the fouling. He’s not some immediate food to be hunted as people say. He rebounds well and gets his hands in passing lanes.

Again I cannot over exaggerate how bad the supporting cast has been this year, so injured, no one can create a shot but him.

He went to Miller a couple times later in the game, was good to see.
He chucked up 35 shots in another L tonight. Don’t tell me he shouldn’t pass the ball. Dame beat the Heat last night with a similar talentless Bucks team, missing Giannis and Middleton.

Pass the ball LaMelo. Too good a player to just be a chucker.

Name Hardens supporting cast that season then read above what Lamelo is playing with.

Ill wait.

Its pretty obvious to anyone that watch the games that he has absolutely no help outside of B Miller offensively right now. The amount of trash he plays with on that side makes it so they only have a chance of winning if he pops off. If Miles, Mark and Tre were back, then its another story, but for the time being, its a very valid excuse to chuck. Rest of the squad looks like peak Detroit Pistons 23-24

Why is this guy allowed to carry the ball so blatantly?

He actually has the worst cast around him, like actually the incapable surrounfing group of players around him that Jokic Fans try to pretend that he has.

Brandon Miller i buy stock into but right now, he's just a hot and cold 3 point guy. That's the only way he scores. Bridges is a oft injured John Collins type tweener talent. They have no big man or wings who can create or hit an open shot. They start a center in Diabate who is averaging like less than a point per game despite playing 25+ minutes

So I don't mind that he's chucking. It's their only chance. They suck and are losing games still but Lamelo is playing more serious ball this year. I think the kid is growing up

There’s an interesting thing happening with the Hornets. LaMelo Ball is unquestionably their most gifted offensive player. Yet, when he goes off on the stat sheet, Charlotte tends to underperform.

Ball is averaging 31.1 points per game – second in the NBA. Over the last three Hornets games, that figure is 42 points per game. He’s also leading the league in field goal attempts (24.9 per game), though here’s the issue: he’s shooting just 43% from the field.

Ball has led the Hornets in scoring in 14 of the team’s 18 games.

They have 12 losses; Ball has been the team’s leading scorer in 11 of those.

Yet, Ball has led the team in scoring in only half of Charlotte’s six victories, all of which points to a need for more efficiency and far more ball movement.

Complete BS. Guys won't be alert on offense and will not hustle as much on defense.

You know you can just watch the games and see whether our role players are hustling on D. That is very much not an issue.

These narrative takes by people that don't watch our games are just pointless. I get why what you said could make sense in a void, but they in fact don't apply to our team, which is very knowable simply by watching games.

People don't want to watch your bum a** team y'all, lol. No amount of defense or glazing for Ball is going to disguise the fact that the guy has never been a consistently healthy, winning player. Once and if those things happen perhaps he'll be worthy if a reassessment.

Make the point without attacking a team/fanbase. Thanks!

So basically when somebody else on the team decides they want to actually make some buckets, the team does better.

That's some hard hitting sports journalism right there.

Guy is having a bounce back season after dealing with injuries over the past few years and all you can do is talk negative about a dude who has shown up to play.

Y'all wanted healthy Melo well here he is. Not his fault his full roster can't stay healthy.

That's cool, at least you acknowledge you make your takes based on narratives and not on what is actually happening in games

I am a Pacers fan and I asked the same thing in a thread about Tyrese recently...It's unfortunately just the norm now. Bothers the hell out of me.
Once they have that golden shining moment and it comes to them in a dream or whatever and they understand that, that's when this team and this franchise will go to another level from where it was when I was here.

Cum hoc ergo propter hoc. Is Ball shooting a ton leading to bad team performances, or are bad team performances leading to Ball shooting a lot. There may be some truth in the former (though that requires a more granular analysis) but it certainly is not the only (and arguably not even the most likely) direction the causality could go.

I don’t know if you watch this team. Several of these guys shouldn’t be playing in NBA games. It’s like brining up some 3rd league player from Europe and asking him to play Center in the NBA.

Yeah I dunno. I've complimented Lamelo in this thread so I wasn't trying to start anything. Just thought it was something interesting Hornets fans and others might want to think about for a few seconds. Cause or effect, not sure.

Yeah, not meaning to call out you as the messenger but instead I just sought to add my thoughts concerning the (implied) inferences drawn in the article.
