I think, kind of like Gradey, added strength will actually help him become more consistent as a shooter.

When he's set (like in that first corner 3) his form is excellent, and he looks the part of an elite shooter. But I've noticed that if he's slightly off-balance, or rushed into the shot, his form can start to fall apart as he tries to force the shot towards the hoop.

Once he has the strength to just rise up from anywhere and keep the same form without needing to force it, I think he'll start making them at a pretty high clip.

What's really to like is his secondary facilitation he can do/handle. He knows how to snake the screen or keeps his defender on his hip/back and hit the roll man. He did that a couple times with Bruno, so JKW has a little Xtra to his game & play multiple positions. We could use him as a bench PG with a Barnes or Barrett out there.
I like his conpete factor the most, he's also a good defender imo

I just noticed on that first basket, he's actually waving Ochai out of the corner so he can slide over. That was obviously the play to get him involved right from the beginning, but it's good to see him knowing the plan and asserting himself.

Imagine him throwing lobs to Chomche and Maluach/Ivisic instead of Fernando! :D

I'm a Egor ACE Maluach Riley Tre Johnson fan myself. I do think we end up with Maluach unless he goes a few spots before us. I don't think we get top 4 unless silver wants to do is a favor

I thought the pick was pretty lackluster but he's been proving me wrong, he can really play. He can shoot and he can play make and he defends his ass off. 11 rebounds and 5 assists for a rookie GUARD who really hasn't seen that much playing time this season is pretty crazy.

The Gleague is an amazing catalyst. I hope Walter is able to start at least one more game before we bring back Gradey, Brown, Olynyk, IQ, etc. He's doing everything but nailing his shots and that should hopefully happen soon.

I think it's interesting that the Raptors really haven't flubbed since Malachi Flynn in 2020 or David Johnson the following year. Even Koloko might have provided to be a good second round pick for Toronto if he hadn't had that serious health issue. All of this year's additions look promising, including the undrafted Battle.

I thought he would go lottery and was excited when we picked him.

He has more on ball juice than I was expecting. Those two possessions with Bruno, the lob and putting his guy in jail and hitting a floater, were pretty intriguing. He looked like a combo guard out there.

If he can rebound this well and is a legit 6'6 (6'5 without shoes), then it makes RJ Barrett expendable for a 1st pick and other players. Keep the tree going.

He's always been a pure hooper with the ball, enjoyed watching him in College tho I only got to a couple of times. People were down on his Baylor efficiency but if you watched those games, they were super limited offensively and he took A LOT of bad shots, not because he was selfish, but because between himself, RayJ and Bridges, they were pretty limited in options (he led the team with 14.5ppg as a Freshman).

The big tell for Ja'Kobe as a prospect was his FT frequency. He just has lottery-level craft, and really reminded of a bit of Demar in terms of how he could manipulate his defender and bait fouls, but like the baby-version you imagine could blossoming into a full-blown mid range menace.

When they drafted him Bobby said they were "fortunate" and "surprised" that he was still there at 19, citing the importance of on-the-ground scouting and how his final numbers were deceiving, also calling out a knee injury early on (people forget he set a Baylor record for a Freshman in his first game w/ 28 against Auburn).

I had a couple of pure hoopers I was hoping for at 19 if the Raptors were going in that direction and he was one of them (Jaylon Tyson the other, he's gonna be great imo).

He can't really shoot atm, that's his biggest weakness, but he's got as good handle imo.

Masai struck gold with this pick.

Kid can do it all. Just needs to sharpen his shooting, which was actually his greatest strength according to scouts.

He looked GREAT in his starting debut.

Filled up the statsheet and played some solid defense.

You can see why he was projected to be a one of the top picks heading into his college season at Baylor. He's crafty, has a high IQ, super high free throw rate and is a good defender. He might end up being a massive steal because of his disappointing shooting at Baylor, which the FO believes isn't indicative of his actual shooting ability. Between him, IQ and Gradey, they all compliment Scottie so damn well.

Great game from him. The stats are great but the most intriguing thing was his size and the way he moves. If they play him at the 1 he has the length and foot speed to really bother PGs.

Hes 6'4" with a 6'10" wingspan, looks like he has lightning fast change of direction with great lateral quickness, I get why they loved him

Or - we can have depth for once
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.
