Flus Fired.
Hope they name Thomas Brown so we get a 5 game look at an OC as your head coach and can he handle both duties.

As much as I want to dog pile on Flus (he deserves plenty of blame), I'm putting a big chunk of this loss on the players, and some on the OC as well.

That last minute of that game was a disaster. At one point, the Bears were 1st on 10 on the 25 yard line with 2 timeouts and 46 seconds left after Detroit penalty.

*1st and 10 with 46 seconds left - CW badly misses a wide open Moore
*Chicago burns time-out after an incomplete pass
*2nd and 10 with 43 seconds left - 10 yard penalty for illegal use of hands on Borom (I believe).
*2nd and 20 with 36 seconds left - CW sacked for 6 yard loss. Not sure if that was a QB draw or what, but neither tackle blocked, so I'm guessing CW dropped back to far, or the tackles didn't block long enough or a mix of both.

In hindsight, a time-out SHOULD have been called right here. The team had managed to go 16 yards BACKWARDS and had already burned a time-out. They needed to get on the same page, but I also understand the thought process of saving that time out, and this falls 100% on CW (and maybe the OC). The team needed to hurry back to the line and get one more play in. Pretty much ANY pass play for positive yards and call a time-out to get the FG team out there. They only needed 5 or 6 yards and could have thrown the ball anywhere on the field.

Instead, it took the Bears 30 seconds to get back to the line and snap the ball at the 6 second mark.
*3rd and 26 - Incomplete pass to Odunze who looked like he gave up at the end of the route.

Just a disaster all around.

Same old question. For this loss, was it the QB, the OL, or the OC....or "all" of the above?

I hope they make Washington or someone other than brown the interim and brown focus on continuing to develop the offense and Williams. Unless they truly believe that brown might make a great HC. But I think it’s best if we move on completely from everything eberflus.

Poles essentially traded a 2nd round pick for Sweat, his contract, and another year of Eberflus.

Should have happened last year.

Several young weapons on offense and a really good defense. He's done a very good job of drafting so far. I don't think we can just let him go and take a chance on an upgrade.

With that said, the retaining of Flus has been a disaster. He should be fired tomorrow. Thomas Brown has been solid in his few weeks leading the offensive helm. Caleb seems to like him and is responding with great numbers. I don't see anyone better to take over the interim HC role.
Agreed. People want to compound the mistake because they're upset. How quickly they forget what an actual bad GM looks like. Ryan Pace, Phil Emery, Joe Schoen, Joe Douglass.

Give him a chance to conduct his own coaching hire.

True, then again...from what we've seen this season. OC's really do matter (as do WR's...and having poor OL's).

Still, CW certainly looks like a better pure pass than Fields will ever be, although I'm not sure how much of his (Fields) early growth was stunted with because he was drafted into this clusterfudge of an org. Flus has been fired, Getsy has been fired twice, Foreman/Herbert instead of Monty, ect... Huge miss on Nate Davis at guard.
Not to mention targets like: Claypool, VJJ, Henry, Trent Taylor, ESB, Petis and Pringle. Jury is still out on Scott who has yet to even get a target this season.

I think Flus will end up a decent D Coord somewhere.

Now go get Ben Johnson

Hate this for Brown. He's put in a bad position. Should've let Hoke do it. Brown barely started talking to Caleb 2 weeks ago. He also doesn't have his staff in place. I think he had a better chance sticking around as an OC then as head coach unless he runs the table.

It was time. Past time actually. Still think it was poor judgement to let him come out and speak to the media this morning and then boot him right after. That was bizarre.

It really has me thinking really hard about how I’ve approached my own career. My man just got promoted twice in 3 weeks!! The lesson, work with superiors that are morons and just let the magic happen!

The downside to this is TB coaches up the team and they win and he keeps his job and no Ben Johnson or real HC search. Poles kinda gets left off the hook and takes credit for TB when he’s the one that was confident in Flus and brought in Waldron.

We don’t know how Ben J would be as a HC but his offense looks electric.

I’d love for TB to be Tomlin 2.0. By far most important is best HC for CW. He will have to really have the offense rolling at 30ppg to keep his job in my mind.

I jokingly said a while back that the Bears are going to do the "Chicago thing" and fire the coach on Thanksgiving lol, never expected it to actually happen given the roster he had. Anyway, good riddance, Flus is a good DC, nice player's coach and motivator in his own way (the whole giving each player a nickname thing) but just didn't have the HC mentality and aura. Yesterday's last minute was a total disaster and his look at the end said it all.

Now about Brown? I hope we don't go on a 2 game winning streak and decide he is the guy, which by the way may happen given 49'ers status this season. He may end being a good HC someday, but giving him the keys premturely would be bigger mistake than hiring Flus. Just go and hire a real HC, develop Caleb and if Brown sustains his preformance in 3-4 years name him the coach. Just not yet.
