Hawk fan here, I would be interested in three players on your roster.

Ant, I know, untouchable.
Gobert
And Naz

For Gobert/Miller (trade filler), would you be open to a Capela/Hunter trade, no picks involved? Would save the Wolves up to 160 million.

For Naz, would you be open to an Okongwu for Naz straight up deal?

I can easily see how you would say no but I can see a yes path too. Especially for Naz due to his upcoming contract and Okongwu being locked in for the next 3 seasons.

We probably wouldn't do either of those right now, but if the team is still garbage at the All-Star break it would be a possibility.
Would need to add some value to that for Gobert.
Not sure if Okongwu's contract is a plus or a minus but he would be a really solid backup for Gobert.
We would take a huge hit in bench scoring but I don't think we really want to pay Naz next summer anyway.

I personally would be much more interested in a Julius Randle trade and Randle for Nance+Hunter IMHO would be almost perfect and very close to a wash financially.
If we could do that I would insert Naz and Hunter into the starting lineup at the 3 and 4 and look to dump Jaden mcDaniels contract.

Keep in mind as a 2nd apron team we cannot combine players for salary matching purposes.

We don’t own our picks in 25 or 27. We have a swap in 26, we owe a top 5 protected in 29, and we sent away 31 for Dilly plus a swap in 30. A team that is limited in controlling its destiny in this way does not tank. Your trades are not even in the realm of anything but us tanking. Sorry to say this is so far off you really need to explain in detail why we say yes or simply stop trolling. Saving 160 million is not a consideration when you are in our spot, and Rudy is trade ineligible this year anyway.

Gobert just signed for less to stay in MIN, and he provides desperately needed defense and rebounding.

With Gobert here, he need Naz’s three point shooting, so a Naz-for-Okongwu trade doesn’t work either. It’s looking to me to be more and more likely MIN will re-sign Naz, regardless of what Randle decides to do.

Overall, I would expect more value from Atlanta for last year’s DPOY and 6MOY.

Zero interest in tanking i agree. Plus the fact that ANT may request a trade if we do. The only option front office have is tore-adjust the roster to cover their KAT Trade mistake. Or hope for a miracle . I think even if players move their ...., the roster is not balances enough. Randle-NAZ does not work at all, Rudy don't see the ball, JMD is near garbage..... too many issues to be fixed easily.

Negative interest in Randle to Atlanta. Zero trades involving him appeal to the Hawks

I really felt like the Naz for Okongwu trade makes a lot of sense. I know it would have to be like Miller and Gueye added for 2nd apron reasons but I like the deal for both teams.

I could understand not wanting to move Gobert, he's still has a lot of winning impact.

I respect your takes on Gobert but I had to see if this was a possibility from a fan stance. The closes I've seen was one poster who said more value was needed but I am not sure Gobert is all that appealing for a FRP at this stage and his upcoming contract for us.

Can't aggregate salaries, so that Gobert trade isn't possible. Nor would there be any interest from the front office.

Naz is a state treasure and likely the future starting 4 man. I understand their relative contract situations goes some distance to bridging the gap in overall value but I still have Naz as both the better player and better value.

would you swap Hunter for McDaniels? Maybe a 3rd team may be involved?

I thought this was interesting

Texas Chuck wrote:Anytime you can let Jake Fisher tell you a team is the team to watch on the trade market, this board will love that justification for trades.

Randle/25 UTH 2nd

for

Vuc/Giddey

Now this is a test of sunk costs. Randle was a chunk of the Towns return and Giddey was the Caruso return.

Bulls get out of the last year of Vuc and get a high 2nd rounder in what is being touted as a good draft(you guys know I feel about this...) I think they've seen enough of Giddey to not be wanting to invest in his next contract, right?

Wolves get more size while maintaining an offensive big. With Conley out they have needed playmaking, enter Giddey who does offer that.

At this point, would any team even want Julius? I think we need to start Naz next to Rudy just to see if it's worth resigning him long-term or not.

I know we’re all frustrated with Randle, but we need to remember that he was an All NBA player in 2021 and 2023, and even this year, he’s averaging 4.1 APG, 6.7 RPG, 21.7 PPG on decent percentages and on just a $33 mil contract. Yeah, his defense is bad, but the league has a long history of All NBA scorers who are bad defenders. He has just become a bad fit here and it hurts team chemistry, but he’s not a negative contract.

I wonder if re-signing him at team friendly extension will increase his trade value.

Would teams look at Randle as an expiring? Given he has a player choice and all.

Riffing another idea from the Trade Board

MEM GETS: Randle + NAW
MIN GETS: Aldama, Smart, Clarke

MEM a needs to start consolidating some of its talent, and Randle could play a Zach Randolph role. I don’t like the extra money MIN a would be taking on next year (Smart $21.6, Clarke $12.5, Aldama ???) which might cost us Naz, but the on court fit would help fix our rotation issues.

Is there some shenanigans going on here?

Because as a straight up deal you of all people should know it's illegal. Can't aggregate salaries.
