Cs even with the Cavs in three-point makes. Had 15 more attempts overall but just poor shooting efficiency today esp from 2. Normally that possession discrepancy should still win you the game. Took offensive dud to start the 4th and Mitchell's heroics in the end to take us out.

This game was on Jrue. Worst game of the season for him on both ends.

If Mitchell is that great, he would've been in the finals already.
He's been doing that since his Utah Jazz days.
I mean always great in the regular season, but always comes up short in the playoffs.
If you think about it, the Cavs needed an explosion from Mitchell and 2 Celtic starters missing for the Cavs to get a win.
Sour grapes. Mitchell has been a killer for years. And often in the playoffs.
Just give them their flowers.
Like I said, credit to them, but the Celtics were really at a disadvantage because they were missing 2 starters.
Yeah, Mitchell has been a killer for years, but the guy has never been to a conference finals because when the game slows down, in the playoffs, and teams focus on stopping him, he struggles.
You're wrong. His game is not predicated on pace. His counting numbers go UP in the playoffs. His efficiency numbers are flat, despite teams zeroing on him.

Tough loss.
Two games in a row where Tatum and Pritchard were great.
KP was good. Hauser played well. Peterson finally got a chance to play and played well. I wanted us to draft Petersen coming out of USC. Watched a lot of his games there. He was my sleeper pick and I'm glad he got a chance to play.
With Brown and White out, we needed more from Jrue and Al.
Props to Joe for giving some minutes to Peterson. The only thing I felt he could have done was give Springer about 10 minutes and put him on Mitchell. Springer is young and athletic and is know for his defense. With Holiday struggling and banged up, I would have loved for Joe to give Springer a chance.

You want JB or DW on Donovan in the fourth. They're better matches. alas.

IF Jrue was hurt, he no way should have played. You can tough out a Playoff game. But a game on the 1st of December?? Seems like it's risking more damage. See Isaiah Thomas in that regard.
There is no prize for coming so close Do something!

Yeah, agreed - if we don't use Springer tonight, what's the point of him?

Sam was really good out there tonight. Peterson didn't come off like a liability on defense. Both were wins.

White is my favorite player on the team. He were a .500 team when he got here. As good as Tatum and Brown are, we were a .500 type team. White took us to another level. Jrue and KP additions made us champs. I love Brad. He added White, KP and Jrue. Got Al back from OKC. Believed in Pritchard and wouldn't trade him two seasons ago when Pritchard wasn't getting minutes. Brad also got Hauser, Peterson, Springer and Queta in low key style.

After holding CLE to under 25 in the 2nd and 3rd quarter we gave up 43 points in the 4th. This game was not lost due to lack of "clutch" offense by Tatum or any of that. We got dusted on those high screens by Mitchell. Lack of communication up top. Someone needed to show higher and get him off the arc. That'll do it everytime.
Solid game by Drew, Kornet down low. Jrue was off and Payton was quasi=human today. It happens. We'll see Cleveland again during the regular season down the road. I mean, would you rather lose like this to a good team or a **** team?

and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Jrue has been really bad for quite some time now. If he’s injured, why does he play? If he is healthy, why is he in the first unit?

I felt like Mitchell was one of the top 10-15 players in the league with Utah. I didn't like him coming to the Cavs. He makes them dangerous. Even last season they were a scary team. We faced him in the playoffs when J. Allen is out and Mitchell missed a few games in that series. We were missing KP in that series.

There's no point to Springer being here.
Brad missed on this one.
Huh, Ainge looks like a genius with Tatum, Brown and PP, but he could have drafted Giannis over Kelly, and could have
traded down in the Smart draft and taken Jokic. So, no GM is 100 percent perfect.
The key for Brad is to move Springer by the deadline (will have to toss in a 2nd) and bring back Walker
or go after someone like THT, who could be a solid scorer off the bench.

I agree. White is the piece that makes everything fit because of things that don't show up in stats like screening on offense, defensive rotations, insane rim protection, quick decisions, high IQ plays. Winning plays on the margin.
Pritchard's improvement is giving me similar vibes. Jrue might be the 2022-2023 version of Marcus Smart. A guy playing crunch time because of his past success and salary. It's getting harder to deny Pritchard is a better overall player than Jrue but I am not quite there yet. Need to see a longer sample size of the season.

Yep, you can get more creative and even have Tatum guard him as an option because brown and white are versatile.
Was disappointed that the one guy who was killing us mainly from the left side of the court kept doing it over and over and the Celtics were stubborn in keeping it as is with the coverage. I get it, that’s Jrue holiday out there but when it’s clearly not his night, we have to switch things up and have others try beating us.

Mitchell torches a lot of people. He was torching Tatum in the 4th quarter when they played us in Boston a few weeks ago. Joe needs to keep Jrue fresh. Give him some nights off. I wanted Joe to give Springer some minutes tonight.
People need to relax on the Jrue bashing. He was one of the key reasons why we won a championship last season.
Jrue had his worst game of the season, but fans need to realize he was questionable for this game with a hip issue. Got to give me credit for playing hurt. It was Joe and the coaches job to limit his minutes and give someone like Springer a chance to play with Jrue being hurt and struggling because of it.

Holiday is questionable for Sunday's game against the Cavaliers due to right adductor tightness, Jay King of The Athletic reports.

He’s the ultimate team player. He has zero flaws in his game and does everything at a good to great level. I always said if there’s a player I want with the ball in his hand in the 4th quarter, it’s DWhite.

I think we will start to see White/Porzingis two man action at the close of games pretty soon. Tatum post-ups with White initiating as well (think game 3 of the FInals). ISO JB isn't my fav but you cannot deny his ability to hit difficult shots. Tatum's ISO are the **** though lol

By far the weak spot of the present coaching staff is our very simplistic offense, based on getting our star wings going downhill to open up 3PTAs with the drive-and-kick, such that attempting more 3s will eliminate clutch situations. But if a game does come to clutch time, our entire offense is forcing pick-switches into a desired matchup for our wing to attack one-on-one. This is extremely simplistic offense, no way Round it. Down the stretch of close games and in special situations we have no plays designed to move the defense and create an easy look. No coaching staff is perfect and we run sound principles, but x-and-o details is our weakness.
