At the start of the season, I thought putting Josh to the bench would be a great role for him. But he has shown to be the perfect link guy. Secondary play making, taking a bit of pressure off Jalen, etc. Now that he’s hitting quite a few shots, he deserves his starting role imo

He’ll still be all those things off the bench. Plus it will give Mikal OG more rest as he subs for either. Also he will close out most games. Thibs loves this guy like he loved Taj

True but for me, he’s the one that gives some semblance of uptempo ball for the SL. Without him, it can easily be Jalen meandering up and a lack of facilitation overall.

Cam and Deuce give the bench some speed and downhill ability.

Maybe just go back to giving Josh the full 48

Hukporti played like crap. Was careless with the basketball. Sims should modified his spot as the backup center.

Thibs putting him in the doghouse after playing a good game versus the Nets may have given him mixed signals.

I know these guys should be professionals and always ready to perform but I cannot blame him completely if that was the case.

He must’ve had a bad practice or something because it seems inexplicable.

OG's shot has been awful the past two games but he always shows up on defense and is making impact elsewhere. That's all we really asked Mikal to do to. If your shot is broken and it'll take you time to get it right then at least get back to great defense

This game I saw more active hands from Mikal, more deflections, more ball pressure. And I actually saw some switching at the top of the key which led to a bunch of possessions where g league pels couldn't do a thing. He's still getting wiped out when trying to go through screens too much for my liking but I was happy to see him get some deflections and a block this game.

Good post from one of the other boards:

Thibs had KAT blitz the pick and roll forcing the ball handler to get the ball into the Centers hands and make him make a decision..

He used OG or Hart as the centerfield guy to slow the center, KAT came back to the paint and if the big sprayed OG and Hart were fast enough to get back out..

I dont know if he will do that every game bit it was smart because Mccollum and Murray are more combo guards than point guards and the Pelicans center was not strong enough with the ball to make them pay..

The Knicks length really bothered them.

If no trade for a big , the key to our season may come down to....

The key to our season may come down to the health of Mitch and Precious. Right now we have plenty of personell to play perimeter D, however without the truly elite rim protection that Mitch provides the other players have to compensate with more attention to the paint.

When Mitch is down there it frees up the other guys not to play as much in the paint and be really up on the perimeter guys from the other team.

Precious helps a bit in this as well. Really curious to see how Precious is played. I think he will alternate between 4 and 5 with him playing the 5 spot (defensively) if him and KAT are on the floor together. KAT will be more the up high blitzer and hedger on defense.

Precious is an important piece too to complete the defensive scheme.

The Knicks just played the second game of an 13 game stretch where they play the Pelicans twice, the Hornets twice, the Magic twice, the Raptors twice and the Wizards twice.

The other games in that stretch include the Spurs, the Pistons and the Wolves.

The defense is fantastic and all, but if we are going to be a contender he needs to continue dropping 18 points per game.
