Some of you guys just so badly want to believe that we're getting a top 5 and I get it because I wish we could too but this team will be LUCKY to be in the bottom 10, nevermind 5...I'm telling you now if they don't make a move within the next month/well before the deadline, this team will close the gap and leapfrog multiple teams in the standings.

This is so much of history repeating itself the past several years where we're hovering around 5-8th in the draft and the team starts making an upward push around 1/3 of the season. The FO absolutely MUST make a move(s) within the next month because they're already going to start moving up the standings but when they get fully healthy and this schedule softens up...I'm dead serious that I can see them making a serious run (obv not quite like the 48W season) but where they do play above .500 down and it could get surprisingly higher rate when the truly committed tanking teams are just completely throwing away their season.

If we want any shot to remain in the top 7 where I'm certain we get a great prospect, Yak must go (period) or the tanking must be blatant. If not get ready for the Play In and a super disappointing draft spot.

trading is a 2-way street....another team has to be interested in him and also be willing to give up a good enough trade package....I don't see any teams that would meet that requirement at the moment. OKC looks like they'll be happy with Hartenstein.

I don't disagree which is the kinda depressing part about it lol

Because I think we can see that this team is gonna be pretty good as-is. But obv a top 5 talent would likely elevate us to a contending team in the future and not a pretending level one that we seem to be projecting to UNLESS we find a trade for him or blatantly tank.

I would've thought NOP as one of the top trade partners but now obv they'll likely aim to bottom out since they know they can't/won't close the gap in the West. But I could still see MEM being interested, very outside chance SAS (although I honestly can't tell if they want to tank or not lol), maaaaybe GSW and I could easily see LAL wanting him (although obv they don't have enough to offer lol). I'm NOT saying that any of those teams are strongly motivated but I give it an outside chance but obv I understand that it's not going to be that easy in the moment to find a clear trade partner (without a serious injury to someone)...

Which is why I'm saying since almost the beginning of this thread, I think we're going to have to focus on players projected OUTSIDE of the top 10 (11-17 range which is depressing af lol) like Powell, Riley etc and really not get too excited about the thought of drafting one of top/well known prospects because I don't see it happening without some SERIOUS intervention...

We definitely need to tank. Our next 6 yrs on the line here. Unless Masai thinks the best player is at 5-8.

We're never gonna be worse than them or Washington (obv lol the worst team in the league by a mile).

But keep in mind a few teams & things:

1. BKN has made it known they're ready/willing to trade any of Cam Thomas, Johnson or DFS
2. CHI has made it known they're ready/willing to trade any of LaVine, Vuc or Ball
3. LaMelo is out with a calf strain which could not only lead to CHA plummeting now but obv makes him a MAJOR risk to re-injure (or worse) given not only his own horrible injury history but obv his aforementioned brother who's made of glass that the Ball family doesn't seem to have the best genes for that lol
4. NOP wanted to/want to trade Ingram and it's ALREADY incredibly unlikely the Pels can climb the standings in the West enough to make the Playoffs and there's no real clear timeline *ahem for any of their guys' returns *wink wink....they're tanking but ppl don't even realize it yet
5. Do you reeeeally think POR is a better team than ours fully healthy?!?

That's at least 5 other teams I could quite easily see us leapfrogging by season's end and that's not even mentioning DET with Cunningham's bad injury track record either and don''t count out Pops/Spurs to tank because they could obviously sky rocket their franchise with another all-star caliber prospect. It's absolutely going to be a fight to remain in the top 7, no point in even stressing the top 2-3 lol

The Raps are going to end up with a top 4 pick post lottery. Don’t worry. It was written. Quote me in late May.

Assuming there's no Poeltl trade on the table for even decent value, I now think the first order of business is to move Mitchell for a 2nd rounder somewhere. He was +20 tonight, Shead was -11. The season numbers have Shead killing us (Mitchell's on/off is +5.6, Shead's is -12.2). That could be worth a couple of wins in the time before Quickley comes back. Assuming we're about the quality of a 37-38 win team once Quickley comes back with normal mild tanking measures implemented, we need to be like 15-17 games under .500 to end up with no more than say 32 wins or so which keeps us around the 5th-7th lottery draft slot I'd guess, which feels like the most that's possible without injuries.

Finishing with 35-38 wins just sucks.

Poeltl trade are hard to find, most good teams have a good starting center and not one who could slide to the 4 (shooting or foot speed) and nobody is paying a good asset for a backup center.

He would help the Magic, so maybe Goga + useless money (Gary Harris) and a late 1st for Poeltl and the PDX 2nd?

The Pistons if they want to make the playoffs, but I don't see them moving that aggressively to give up a real asset for Poeltl.

Bulls always an option if they want to make the playoffs, a 3 way deal with Vucevic to a contender, Poeltl to the Bulls and assets from both to the Raptors, but that feels more like a ton of 2nds than a first. Maybe they can add up to one.

Grizzlies could use him, something like Edey, Kennard, Konchar and a 2nd works if we like Edey a lot as a prospect.

He'd probably do okay as a Warrior as he's a high IQ type, but I kinda doubt they'd trade us a ton. Maybe if they have another move to make on the perimeter in concert with it as they really go for it. Orlando is kinda similar in that regard, but Golden State has dwindling Curry/Draymond years and Orlando has all the time in the world.

We might need a first domino to go in the form of a trade to open things up, like Orlando including Wendell Carter Jr as salary in a trade for a scoring wing/guard or that sort of thing, and then they need a center.
Where's the D?

We just beat the exact same team that went to the nba finals not that long ago. Beat them with a bunch of kids and no IQ, Dick, Olynyk, Brown. It's all over man.

I did say there is no such thing as an ethnical tank, but there definitely is an unethnical tank and Will Hardy is that

We need Bruce Brown back badly. He was solid in the tank commander role last season.

Ainge can only draft in the top 5 so he's panicking.

Return to Toronto Raptors
