Brandon Ingram, Yves Missi
FOR
Myles Turner, Aaron Nesmith, Jarace Walker
Why for NOP: Right now the Pels are a mess and make no sense. They need a reconstructing of roles. Zion has been in and out of the lineup and not as motivated. By moving Ingram, it shows to his team that NOP values him as their clear no. 1 talent. Turner is an ideal 5 next to Zion for his defensive capabilities and ability to space. Like Ingram, Turner is an expiring, but a likely cheaper re-signing target than a pricey Ingram. Nesmith provides great 3 and D around Zion and the supporting cast that could work with a variety of units. More spacing around Dejounte is also helpful. Walker adds more defensive 4/5 depth to round out the rotation.
Even in times when Zion is out, the new unit then gives Murray the alpha mantle and resolves any awkwarness he may have with Ingram. It would give either Murray or Zion far more spacing and defense and ultimately help rebuild the culture in New Orleans.
Why for IND: The Pacers have been falling a bit and need a jolt to rejuvinate their season. Part of their fall is due to the fact that Haliburton may not be an alpha anymore. Enter Ingram who can be their half court higher usage talent with Haliburton and Siakam in a more suitable 2nd and 3rd option role. The Pacers still hold down solid depth and then allow Mathurin and Nembrand more minutes at the wing who were previously behind Nesmith.

This seems really wrong direction wise for Indy. They move two of their most important defensive players for a scorer. I know the vaunted Indy offense is off to a slow start with a hobble Halliburton, but the defense is near the bottom of the league. Weakening that seems counter-productive.

I think Ingram to Indy makes sense.
But, seems like Indy is giving up way too much but without Turner?
Jarace and salary filler seems more than fair. Indy has been forcing jarace into playing small forward. He is not very good at sf. Could be really good at pf.

Issue is salary. Turner has to be in this move with a $19M and expiring figure. If Turner is going out it makes sense for the construct to be Ingram and the cheap, rookie deal of Missi - that means Pels are sending $39.2M.
Turner and Obi (post Dec 15th) comes out to about $33.4M, so the filler there is either Walker, Mathurin. Then it feels like too many front court guys going out.

I am not a big fan of adding Ingram. Indy has a better chance of resigning Turner than handing Ingram max money. That just makes no sense. Make it Herb Jones and we can deal.

I am guessing no one has watched Missi play. Not a chance in hell Pels are making this trade.

Yeah, just no real better comment than this. Absolutely cannot trade defense for offense. The offense will be there. The defense needs continued help. This basically leaves Andrew Nembhard as the only defender on the court this year?
If Myles is going to be dealt to NO, it’d heave to be something around Herb Jones for Indy to be able to consider it. To deal a major defensive cog, there has to be a really good one coming back.
