Not trading Zion in that tiny healthy window was nuclear extinction for them. As insane as the AD trade was for them they're basically getting nothing out of it by not rolling Ingram forward into picks.

I think their problems long precede Zion's health/diet/other issues.

I was telling one of my friends a couple weeks ago that trading for Dejounte made zero sense. They have 3 ball dominant players in Ingram, Cj and Zion and they decided to add another one. What is their GM doing?

I have no idea.

Trading for CJ was also a treadmill move. He had that one good series against Denver but beyond that he's always been kinda mid.

Bringing post-up bigs like Valanciunas to play next to Zion made no sense either.

Just terrible roster construction.

Four with Ingram. I couldn't believe they didn't move him this past offseason.

I feel like they have some good pieces but no direction.

to be fair, as he said himself, the team clearly was looking to get him going. they ran some plays for him. they found him on cuts. it all matters.

I started the Brunson recap by mentioning how often Jalen looked to get Mikal going. I didn't see much change from anyone else, but Brunson practically never used Mikal cuts for decoys. He fed Bridges instead. That meant less Brunson midrange shots and floaters, but all sorts of rhythm for Bridges.

Small sample sizes in the beginning of the season so tough to say. Knicks have been playing better and better so I think our pace will increase. But its a long season and a lot of unpredictable things so there is no telling what will happen between injuries, cold stretches, etc.

Overall, I think this team has a lot of room to get better and some high upside.

We are currently the #1 offense in the league. .600 win pace which is about 49 wins.

The biggest issue we have is for some reason OG and Mikal can't play well at the same time. I don't know what the **** their issue is but they gotta figure it out. Mikal more than OG.

Mentally, I have us at about 52 wins. We're playing more consistent and the defensive anchors will ostensibly return.

When OG is playing "badly" he's at least playing defense. I'll take "bad" OG with Mikal popping off. He's a more natural 3rd option imo. I really hope this is a turning point and not just a hot game.

I have us at 55 wins. We had some bad losses and our record isn’t a true reflection of where this team is ( see the overall +\-). Right now our biggest weaknesses are 3pt defense, rim protection and offensive rebounding. Mitch and Precious will help with the rim protection and rebounding. 3pt defense is more of scheme/coaching issue but it has gotten better.

sorry Knick family I'm not buying into this notion that "fans" needed to hold Mikal (who is clearly not the type to be rattled) "accountable". Mikal is a player who may not be a #1 but he can put up 45 points and carry a team. When you come from
a team where your role was bigger- it takes time to figure out your new lane- especially a team that's this dynamic.

I mean 20 games in -we're the #1 offense -Yet, you want everyone to drop 30

20 games in! No precious. No Mitch. 7 man rotation. New team. Chemistry under construction. I think we have a better record than

Now with that said , he did say I have to play better after the road trip and delivered.

So the biggest issue wasn't saying he was playing crappy because no doubt his first twenty games were piss poor. However the issue was assuming that he was damaged goods or that he was somehow done as some were doing

That's great but doesn't really tell the whole story. We all know that Mitch and probably even Precious are much better than he is overall at the 5.

Sims is so low IQ and has very bad hands under the basket too. Unless you set him up perfectly, he has trouble converting under the rim with any defender contesting.

Granted certain aspects of his Defense have been OK but he is nowhere near the presence Mitch is at the rim.

Now does he continue to improve to make our rim prtoection half decent when he is at the 5? Maybe. But personally I think we will take a bigger jump when Mitch and Precious return.

With KAT at 5 the rest if the team has to compensate a bit to help with interior D. When we have a full slate of Mitch,Precious, Sims that will drastically alter that dynamic. You can still play KAT at 5 but you will now have Mitch mainly for the other minutes at the 5.

How's everyone feeling today?



Last night the Mikal Bridges that I know showed up. That was his near All Star form that comes out.

Now, if tomorrow he scores 14 points but plays the same level of defense that we saw last night....that is to be expected.

Let's build from here. This team's ceiling is nowhere near reached yet.
