It would take more than that from Ainge (and I would be OK to give it to him). There are reports they are definitely looking to deal by the trade deadline (while Markenen basically being the only near untouchable). If we were to go after Sexton (who I don't think we would even really need) it would mean including Mitch as that's the only way salaries work.

You have at that point greatly fortified our biggest weakness: Rim protection at the 5. Utah gets the youth movement it's looking for with some interesting prospects and a FRP to boot.

You have to let the Kessler idea go, the guy is due an extension, we cannot afford him and be under the 2nd apron while resigning Mikal. Kessler is going to get paid like a starting level center would because that's what he is, and they're not trading Juzang either as he's been playing well.

A veteran wing player off the bench makes way more sense than Sexton

Basically, a 3&D guy who does not need to dribble to shoot it. Our entire starting lineup wants the ball in their hands at one point or another. You meed bench players willing to compliment the starters.

Agreed. Once Brunson draws the big out, Towns should get to the paint. The issues come when they double/hard hedge Brunson on the switch. Basically, OG or Mikal needs to be a better connector there because Josh generally isn't on the same side as the 1/5 PnR action. Either that or KAT needs to do more Hartensteining out of the pinch post.

Yeah I really liked how Mikal not only shot well yesterday he was very active especially with his cuts. His mid range game has been so good. He needs to flash in that top of the key area to give Brunson the outlet on the switch/double hard on Brunson.

Like you said Hart is great at that but isn't on the side of a 1/5 P&R. So it needs to be Mikal or OG (I prefer Mikal) OG's handles and passing are a bit sus.

But Mikal should thrive in the top of the key spot where he can dribble into a middy. Or get the ball to KAT on the low block to finish over a small.

Boston had great success with getting KP to post at the free throw line once there was a switch on that pick and roll... KP would turn and hit a high percentage free throw over the smaller defender or he'd pass to an open teammate. We need KAT to do the same thing if they switch the pick and roll with Brunson... haven't seen the Knicks do much of this yet.

sorry Knick family I'm not buying into this notion that "fans" needed to hold Mikal (who is clearly not the type to be rattled) "accountable". Mikal is a player who may not be a #1 but he can put up 45 points and carry a team. When you come from
a team where your role was bigger- it takes time to figure out your new lane- especially a team that's this dynamic.

I'm sure everyone on the team knew that the major thrust of the first 20 games needed to be getting Big KAT integrated into the offense, or there woulndn't be much to cheer about at the end of the season. I think Mikal took a back seat, but now his teammates are trying to get him more into the flow of the game. He has been a fine player and he continues to be. Maybe we underrated "unselfish" as one of his characteristics. As for the D, though, I have no idea how to explain the switch that was thrown from "blend" to "beat."

Not trading Zion in that tiny healthy window was nuclear extinction for them. As insane as the AD trade was for them they're basically getting nothing out of it by not rolling Ingram forward into picks.

I think their problems long precede Zion's health/diet/other issues.
