Really enjoying Landman. Billy Bob Thornton is absolutely perfect in it so far

Binged Cross on amazon. I like the guy who plays Cross but wasn't sure if he fit that role. Put it this way , I hope there is a season two, he did a great job! Helps that it was a excellent story line!

Re: Jeselnik
I think comes off as gimmicky with that monotone deliberate delivery. He certainly leaned on it too much when he was younger. Seems to have gotten away from it a little bit lately. I’ll have to give him another shot. It’s hard to overcome first impressions. My first impression of him in his younger days was another roast guy going for shock value. Being fearless is a nice trait as a comedian but you’ve gotta pick and choose your spots.

Jeselnik is super clever, among the smartest and most daring comics. I think he is as much a performance artist, as comic… as in I think he relishes pushing the envelope and making audiences uncomfortable more than getting a great laugh. And thats probably what his fans love most about him. Its just going to keep him from mainstream success. I have no doubt he could write really funny conventional jokes, if he wanted to.

Jeselnik's newest special was amazing as always. The Norm Macdonald story/bit had me in tears. I think people underrate how much he's evolved as a comedian and how dedicated he is to the actual art of joke writing. We watched it over the holidays with my dad (who's never seen his stuff) and my GF (who hasn't been the biggest fan of his in the past), and they were both laughing hysterically at times. He's not just some crass comic who's looking to punch down for offensive shock value. There's legitimate thought, nuance, and sensitivity to what he does.

Early reviews for Nosferatu are out. Sounds like a masterpiece but I didn't love The Witch or The Northman. Haven't seen The Lighthouse. Maybe I'll check that out tonight.

Finally finished Industry S3, and I watching it all in a row was a wild experience - each season is so different from the last. Absolute banger of a show.

Gladiator 2 was pretty disappointing. The first is one of my favourite movies so I tried to manage expectations but it was a mess. Storyline was muddled and lacked any emotional punch. Hard to really root for or against any of the characters.
The movie quite literally jumped the shark at one point. I won’t spoil it any more than that.
I’ll stick to watching the original and try forget #2 ever happened.

I did love the first Gladiator movie, but I guess I never really held it in such high esteem as to view any encroachment on the original material being some sort of risky endeavor that would upset fans of the....lore? I feel like as far as sequels go, it was a pretty low risk action/adventure popcorn flick.

Re: OT TV and Movies (Please use spoiler tags)
Gladiator 2 was about what I expected tbh. Was reasonably entertained throughout the runtime, wasn't bored at any point, visuals were mostly great. But also wasn't wowed leaving the theater, the story wasn't particularly rich in any way, and I forgot about it a few hours later. Didn't feel the original needed a sequel and the sequel didn't do anything to change my mind on that, but I can't say I feel like I wasted my money or anything, it's a decent time. Denzel was the best part about the movie. My personal recommendation would be to get baked before watching it.

Four episodes into season 1 of Slow Horses. Good stuff.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Quality is pretty consistent all the way through. It’s a gem.

I enjoyed the Yacht Rock documentary on HBO. People make fun of the "genre" but the guys at the forefront of that style of music were crazy good musicians. Later on everyone tried to mimic that sound and it became a trope. Also, Christopher Cross partied his ass off.

Man, I think Eastwood and Abrams really, really botched the last 15 minutes of Juror #2.

So pumped. Been waiting 16-years for this movie. Boyle and Garland reuniting is awesome.
