Not if you follow the salary cap rules.

Detroit still has cap space, pretty sure it would.

The guy I want on the Bucks is prime Spurs Boris Diaw. Loved his game and felt like he always played up against the best teams. Can we get him?

I don't think you can aggregate players if you are over the 2nd apron.

You can if you end up below the 2nd apron, according to everything I have seen.

If it makes you feel better, you can do this in two separate deals to avoid aggregating. Pat+2nd for Reed, Beauchamp into cap space.

Has anyone here read the actual CBA section that deals with trades above the second apron? I'd be curious to see that.

Good luck sorting through it, but I believe this is it:

Giannis: “Nothing. Just get a ring now.”

Trading for less salary isn't aggregating salary though, no? YOu'd essentially be tradng Pat for Reed and Marjon into cap.

This is a legal trade with the cap rules I am fairly certain. Marjon can be traded into cap space essentially making this 2 separate trades. Pat has a higher salary than Reed. Reroute Marjon for a 2nd to another team if need be, which might be what the Pistons would prefer to do anyway. Or the Bucks could take back Wendell Moore, there are a bunch of different ways to make this trade work if they are willing to move Reed for a 2nd and take on Pat.
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

I agree that this is legal. 2 players can be traded together, without being "aggregated".

However, I think it'll take a 2nd to get a team to take Pat because of the PO, and then another 2nd to get Reed.

I'd like to get Reed, but only after we've secured the quick combo forward we need.

He has a decent defensive rep. It's similar to marginally better than Prince, w/ superior rebounding & on ball o. Don't know he's the same catch & shoot guy, but his #'s were solid there when he played on a better team. Improves his efficiency.

I don't think there is really a conversation to be had on those guys.

Giannis is easily better than Shaq.

Just saw that Giannis and Dre have played 20 minutes together with Giannis as the sole big (no Brook or Bobby). +72 net rating.

This is the way. Hopefully Doc leans into it more when Khris gets back.

I just wanna see

Dame
Green
Dre
Khris
Giannis

I think that lineup could be filthy.

Kings are 9-12 and 12th in the West.

Murray’s been in a season long shooting slump and their team seems to just not have enough size in the front court to flank him and Sabonis.

Ellis was made a starter as Huerter’s hot start waned, but is only averaging about 20 mins per.

Maybe Doc would be more accepting of defensive lapses from the hyper aggressive playmaking, especially with Giannis and Brook there for clean up duty?

Ellis is an uber-aggressive defender. He loves to create high value plays like steals (86th percentile in steal rate) and blocks (88th percentile in block rate). That's great, but it also comes at a cost. Sometimes, these types of defenders can be so aggressive that they put themselves out of place on defense.

For all that Ellis does well on a basketball court, he also puts himself in some bad situations by hyper-focusing on defensive playmaking. This is very valuable, but coaches also place a huge emphasis (whether right or wrong) on being able to defend within the team concept. Given Brown's long tenure in the NBA and history as a defensive-minded coach, this is especially true for him.

My intuition is that we need sound defenders, not gambling defenders, and that Ellis would be better suited for a team like Boston if they didnt have White or Jrue already.

I agree you can trade Pat and the 2031 2nd for Paul Reed because Pat makes more than Paul and Detroit has room. However you can't trade Pat and Marjon together for Paul Reed because you are aggregating salaries and the Bucks can't do that being a 2nd apron team.

I've been an AJAX hater but using him as a small ball 4 might actually be something I could get behind.

Dame/AJ/Dre/Khris/Giannis has been the lineup I’ve wanted to see the most by a mile. If Khris is more or less Khris when he returns (or at least at some point after he returns) I think that lineup would absolutely smoke teams.
