George ,Mccain and Yasbelse definitely upgrades. Oubre and Martin should be fine.

I think we need to tighten up our rotation. Oubre should strictly play alongside Embiid or Yabusele at the 5. Never with Drummond.

I’m liking what I’m seeing from McCain, and I think we should pair him with Embiid, while Maxey should play alongside George once he’s back.

If Embiid had just played at an average level tonight, we would’ve easily beaten the Knicks.

McCain definitely needs time with Embiid. For no other reason we need guys who are willing to rebound when Embiid's on the court because he sucks so badly at it. McCain and Guerschon are ideal groupings with Embiid.

So, we have around 19 million in salary to trade it seems (Oubre + KJ + Gordon)?
At this moment, it feels save to say McCain should be a keeper or we only trade him for a player who elevates us to really winning.
If it's true McCain and Maxey are not the best duo, we should go after a bigger SG it seems. Or move PG13 to that spot and add another big guard/forward who can rebound as the best (Josh Hart would be so awesome on this team :( ) ?

First I thought we needed an enforcement at the 4 (rebounding, shot blocking from that position) but it's not the first need probably, especially because Yabusele seems pretty ok in a bench role, and i feel Martin is doing a decent job. So I'm thinking about the 2/3 position.

Than we're set with:
PG: Maxey
SG: Trade ?
SF: George
PF: Martin
C: Embiid

Bench: McCain - Lowry - Yabusele - Drummond - Jackson

So who's the guy we should go after, at that price tag (so Oubre + KJ + Gordon with probably a pick or 2 involved)?

Or should we just go all-in for Cooper?

That doesn't mean that the idea of punting on this season and tanking isn't something I think of daily. IF...IF we want this franchise to continue being in the Finals conversation on a yearly basis, then tanking this season for a top five pick is probably the only way. If Cooper Flagg is the next superstar can't miss player, then maybe you go for it by a mortgage of this season. I highly doubt that we do that though.

That certainly is a legit avenue to consider down the road....but the east is soooooo weak so far this year. The sick sirs could heal/heat up at the right moment, get a mid-tier playoff position....who knows lol. I'd honestly wait another 10 games to really see where they end up

OK, it's almost 10 games in, and I'm ready to pull the plug on this year's season.

$26.6M is probably too much if the Sixers are still trying to win at that point. KJ + Oubre + Drummond + Gordon is $24.3M. Need to add 2 more min contracts to match. As bad as some of the vets have been, if they haven't embraced the tank by then, I don't think they'd trade that much depth.

Every one of our vets are expendable at the moment from an on-court perspective. If they can be used to bring in a star, I don't think Morey is going to hesitate.

He has played 4 out of our 19 games and has labored up the court in the 4 games he played. I’m sorry giving him a 3 year extension looks awful and is on Morey.

I wouldn't call Collins a star, although I get the appeal.

If the vets continue to be as bad as they've been so far, then yeah, they're replaceable by just about anyone. But in that case, the team is probably completely out of playoff contention when KJ can be traded.

Collins has a player option next year. I don't know what he'd get on the open market in this new CBA world, so maybe he picks it up. If not, you basically have to sign him or you've lost all that salary slot, with only the MLE to replace it I think. Gives him a lot of leverage.

Looking closely at it, if Collins picks up the option (or signs multi-year for slightly less in the 1st year), I think they could still sign a tax MLE guy (Yabu?) and stay under the 2nd apron (barely). They'd have to find some decent depth on very cheap deals, which has obviously not been their forte.

Edit: Embiid/George/Maxey/Collins (option)/Martin/McCain/Bona + tax MLE + vet mins to 14 players is about $800k under the 2nd apron. Zero additional flexibility (they'd be hard-capped with a tax MLE signing).

I’ve been interested in Collins since he punked us in the playoffs. Hard to find a better fitting PF next to Embiid imo.

Also, I'm still not sure if Oubre can be traded against his wishes. I believe there is a CBA provision for an automatic NTC if a player re-signs to a 2-year deal with the 2nd year as a player option, although the provision is waivable by the player. No idea if Oubre did so.

If we can’t trade them then we need to create an environment where they want to be traded. LOL

I’m gonna be away for a few days because of my job. Is there any site I can stream the Philadelphia /Charlotte game on my phone tonight? Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Today's check in: Boredom. Probably going to watch most games as background noise instead of attentively now. They are not good and the way we play is like watching paint dry. I'll pay more attention if and once Joel starts being able to play 2 games in 3 nights (not holding my breath on that one).
